We just did this in our TH. We did air down because the road got real rocky and very uncomfortable. We had NO clearance issues as this is basically a fire road. There are some epic views to be witnessed and appreciated. Along the route we saw about 50 burros and a large covey of Quail. On the map the trail stops at the pass but you can continue down up the mountain with no problems, down to a Quarry where we took a left back down to the pavement. This is a relatively short trail run so while in the area we went to Rhyolite then over to Titus Canyon in DV. If you have never been to Rhyolite or Titus Canyon GO! You are missing some epic views. Titus canyon calls for high clearance 4wd but ummm NO, we did in the TH and never hit a rock. Time line for those that are interested, departed LV at 8AM and got back at 5PM. If it is your first time seeing Rhyolite and Titus expect it to be longer as you will want to linger in Rhyolite longer and of course take the tour of Leadville prior to dropping into Titus canyon proper. Saw 4 Big Horn sheep on our way back to Daylight Pass in Death Valley.

Didn't even know that was out there. We'll have to check it out next time we visit DV. We usually stay in Beatty for a few nights. We may be headed that way next month, Death Valley is a great park.

If you get into trouble, I know one of the EMT's in Beatty. He's one of the trainers for the EMT's in the area and knows his stuff.
