Hi!
I’m at a loss right now. I noticed some corrosion on the front end hood of my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Pictures attached. I called Jeep and one woman told me it is no longer covered under warranty as of January 2022. I talked with a Jeep dealership and they said sometimes they will still cover it past warranty. I bought this car used. It has about 76k miles on it. Good condition otherwise, no accidents.. has anyone had experience submitting a claim past warranty? Is it worth it to repair the rust or just to replace the whole hood. I’ve gotten quotes for both and the difference between the 2 are $400-600. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I’ve only owned this car for two years.

You might have better luck on the Grand Cherokee forum. This is the smaller Cherokee forum, and they're completely different vehicles. My hood is aluminum. Try here...

I had a 2017 Grand Cherokee before my new Cherokee and this was a problem on all the Grand Cherokees on the lot. Exact same spot on every hood. I assume it was something about the painting process but never confirmed. Good luck if it’s not under warranty!

I had the same problem on my 2017 grand Cherokee overland … noticed it right when it was 5 months past warranty .. they need to do a mass recall. I was told Chrysler has now changed the shape of the hood to avoid this problem. They know this is a problem.
