roof basket options or roof rail additions

I have some news regarding roof rails be added if you want to add roof rails to your jeep permanently. You would need to go through a body shop to do so for the drilling of holes and tearing down of headliner. I got ahold of my dealer and they told me that due to where it deals with structure of the vehicle and that's their can of wax. The dealer gave me a company in Canada not sure about the states but its called Carstar and they are able to order the OEM parts and reinforcements remove the headliner, drill, install the parts and good to go. As far as it being covered by the dealer/FCA warranty she didn't know but the Carstar company has a warranty thing they do I believe. Now this answers my questions about getting it done and who you have to go to and that's a body shop or a dealer with a auto body shop. On another note does anyone have any recommendations for baskets that go on the roof clip on as i dont have the roof rails and wont be able to afford the rails for a bit.

How do they actually work? When I search roof rack I just see people selling the cross bars(I have factory parallel railings on my car). So do I have to buy a roof basket/thule cargo thing as well as the roof rack bars themselves? If I do how do I know what basket/cargo thing will fit on the bars? Sorry I know it's a rant and probably a very stupid question.

Most baskets will fit any crossbars. You need to start with a good crossbar set. I would recommend the Thule/Mopar set available from your dealer for around $300. They are the exact same set that would cost you almost double on the Thule website. Then there are tons of basket options to fit within your budget. Great choices even available on Amazon...😎

So you have to have the the mounting hardware for the roof rails themselves or you can get the clip one then you can purchase the cross bars.

Well, the Mopar Thule set is mounting feet, and crossbars. The basket attaches to the crossbars. Is that what you're asking???😎

You can get them from any CDJR dealer, or one of the various Mopar parts online sites, but you will likely pay more with shipping. You're Jeep dealer will have them...😎

Model # for the OEM crossbars is 82215961.

Anybody here have experience with cheaper options, like Brightline or BougeRV - around $100.

I have a cargo box, Thule Force XT-L, from my previous car. I only use it 3-4 times per year, and take the crossbars off when not in use, so I don't exactly need the highest quality crossbars.....but also don't want to have the crossbars break mid road-trip and send my cargo box flying
