Hi, looking for some good alternatives to Dorman's aluminium oil filter & cooler housing.
My TH is at 72k and it's time to change it.
The issue is I can't find Dorman 926-876 anywhere, and their shipping dates are all in June.
Looking for community opinion as buying random brands on Amazon is not a lucrative ioption.

BTW: does anyone have any experience with this one? More Information for SKP SK926959

I think the plastic oil cooler is basically ok.
The "O" rings can leak and let engine oil and coolant intermix and/or leak externally.
Over torqueing the oil filter cap can crack the housing.
I have a paint line on my oil filter housing so I know when it is torqued correctly.
I change my own oil so I know the cap is tightened correctly.
Eventually plastic can crack from old age and heat. Happened on my Oldsmobile radiator decades ago.
Generally I prefer to use Mopar OEM replacement parts. They are Warranted by FCA and the mechanics know how to replace them.
So far I have found OEM parts to be of good quality. Went with Bilstein B6 struts and shocks because I know Bilstein is superior to any OEM part.

So to answer your question: no.

Just curious...

Went looking and noticed there are 2 distinct Dorman part numbers for this assembly : 926-959 and 926-876.
So what's the difference ? As far as I can tell, 926-959 is the complete assembly with cooler and filter cap and all gaskets, while 926-876 is just the housing with all the gaskets. If you get 876, you need to install your old cooler on the new housing.

SKP is made in China. Not sure if it's an issue.

Perhaps get a plastic one if no Dorman available, though I see 926-959 available on RockAuto right now. A bit more expensive than the 876 (because it has a cooler), but available..

Edit to add : notice how SKP copied the Dorman part number...(926959)...

The -876 is the original offering. It required you to take the old cooler assembly from your plastic unit and put it on the new aluminum one. Same with the oil cap.

The -959 came out later and included the cooler and cap.

Both however need that you transfer your old sensors so make sure you use whatever they recommend whether it be Locktite or something else on the threads.

There are also wholly assembled units on Amazon with every included (and about 1/2 the price). They're non-Dorman though so it's a personal decision. All you have to go by are Amazon reviews.

Just noticed you also asked about the SKP product. It's a Chinese manufacturer. Looks like they make a lot of aftermarket products. About Us - Skyward Automotive Products

I order a lot of my parts off RockAuto so the fact they even offer SKP's SKU number, I'd probably go with that before other no-name brands on Amazon or similar re-seller sites. The guys at RockAuto once told me that if they get a lot of returns [which cost them money to process], they'll eventually drop that manufacturer. So I'm guessing they at least find SKP satisfactory. I do like that the sensors are included. I'd love it if Dorman would offer an totally complete part. That would be perfect! Last thing I need is to put the sensor in and find I didn't seal the threads properly and have an oil leak two weeks later. :-(

I actually just installed the dorman complete oil cooler assembly 2 days ago on my 2014. Part number 926-959. Advance auto actually carries them in some of their stores. So far so good. I did end up reusing the old oil pressure sensor but the oil temp sensor was in so tight it ended up getting damaged when using a breaker bar to get it out so replaced it. You use regular white pipe thread sealant when installing them plumbing aisle at your hardware store. So far in 127k miles my Jeep has had 4 oil coolers. The most recent was installed at 90k. Started leaking from one of the fused plugs on the plastic assembly. The dorman does away with the fused plugs that can weep or blow out. It uses solid steel threaded pipe plugs that will not have that issue. My previous oil cooler that was installed at 50k started leaking from one of the o rings. The original cracked or warped and was leaking. Terrible design on the pentastar to use these. Its not a hard job just tedious. But in saying that its enough of a pain where I would not trust one of the no name aluminum ones which it seems everyone is copying now. when I was researching the dorman many people said avoid the knock offs due to sharp edges that cut the gaskets and poor tolerances in the machining. Last thing you want is to have to do it again right away due to a poor quality part. Dorman gives a lifetime warranty as well and will provide new seals, gaskets etc if ever needed. Includes the full set of all seals and gaskets needed. Good time to replace your spark plugs while your in there if due or due soon.

Great, thanks! I've had the same thought but decided to check with the community. Don't want a low quality part in a place that's hard to reach.

They even made the cap orange!
And yes, 959 is the complete set.

Thanks for the tip! Just ordered mine but they cancelled the order. Do you know if there's any way to order it online without visiting the store?
I'm in Ukraine so ordering online and shipping is the only option.
No idea on how advance auto handles online orders. I do know that the Dorman goes in and out of stock often so possible that is one reason they cancelled it.

Oreilly Auto Parts may also have the Dorman Oil Housing. It's how I got mine (bought it locally), but it was the 876 part, so you'll have to reuse your oil cooler, and get a new Oil cap (or just reuse the old one if it's not cracked).

Only been a few days, but so far everything is working as intended. I hope to never have to replace it again. And if I happen to upgrade to a Grand Cherokee down the way, I'll immediately replace the Housing with the Dorman variant right away.
