I just wanted to share a few pictures from my recent adventure. I finally took my Latitude up Rocky Gap road from Red Rock Canyon near Las Vegas. I made it 4.8 miles all the way to Red Rock summit and the Bridge Mountain trailhead. I've taken my Cherokee off road quite a bit, but this is the first time I was afraid I might break something! I needed 4wd low for several sections and ground clearance was an issue. But, with patience and a spotter in a few places, the Cherokee has proven itself to me yet again. I must say that ADII equipped Cherokees are pretty darn capable, even with the all-season tires that come with the Latitude. I'm pretty sure that with some A/T tires it would go places I'd never dare try. I highly recommend both the drive, and the hike to Bridge Mountain, to anyone near Vegas.

No doubt! It would've made a great ad poster for the Cherokee, too! Ahhh, missed opportunities suck. haha... j/k!

Great pics and maybe, if you get some A/T's on your ride, you just might be able to take that last pic again... w/ your Cherokee in it! ;-)

Hiking and climbing just about kills me anymore. The 11918 ft Charleston Peak is on my agenda for this summer. It's 17 miles round trip and 4000 feet of elevation gain. I am dreading it...I wish I could just take the Cherokee to the top. I guessing the BLM might frown upon that though.

I should have offered a disclaimer to the Bridge Mountain hike. I'd hate to see anyone head up there unprepared because of me. In addition to the difficulty of getting to the trailhead, you should have solid route-finding skills, be comfortable with class 3 rock scrambling, and can deal with potentially fatal levels of exposure. I still recommend it as an all-time classic, must do hike. I just don't want anyone to be under the misconception that this is a trail hike.

Congrats! Even with a TH and oversize tires, I generally stop 2.4 miles up and take the ridge route to bridge.

I thought i would show you guys my fun adventure yesterday in the Desert Refuge. We had traveled the Alamo road up the the dry lake bed north of Las Vegas. We had lunch and watched a thunderstorm pass us to the east heading north. Well this same thunderstorm hit on the far side of the Alamo road where we had came up from and return on to get back to Las Vegas. Well to say the least for about an hour to two hours we where in 4wheel low in rock mode and hear are some of the pics

Thanks for the pictures...I have some fond memories of hiking down Icebox Canyon in Red Rock from years back. Some of the best scenery I've seen outside of the Grand Canyon or Zion. If I ever end up out there again, I'll have to give Rocky Gap a shot.
