I suppose this question goes here:
So my son tried opening his window today and asked me to unlock it- It wasn't locked. no up, no down. tried from the front, locked and unlocked. nothing.
am I missing something? Thanks for any assistance.

Hello foxbag... had you started your Cherokee using remote start?

If so, do you remember whether you had already pressed the "Start Engine" button before your son tried to open the window?

The reason I ask is because I've noticed that when you use remote start, the windows won't go down unless I have actually pressed the "Start Engine" button... which is really what sets the vehicle into "normal" running condition.

Thanks Chalo,
Sadly, I don't have the remote start option. I also don't know when the problem started either, since he is the only one back there. Im going to check fuses tomorrow, though I doubt i'll find anything since it would have effected all windows.
I noticed that the window 'lock' button feels a bit flimsy- like it may not be actually switching- though I really wasn't paying attention to its 'feel' before the problem was noticed.
Thank you for the suggestion!

No problem...

So you're stuck with the windows like that then... I thought it had been a temporary problem which fit the similar issue I've seen.

I guess you're gonna have to visit the dealer... sorry about that.

I haven't tried windows, but I know the remote start on our T&C will not activate the power outlets that we use for our coolers.

indeed, potentially a trip to the dealer is necessary to fix the problem!

Thanks all. Yep, Trip to the dealership. Now the front windows dont go up or down.
(and no, not child locks!)
I've tried that back windows compulsively to see if it is intermittent, but they're dead- tonight the fronts didnt go up or down, then I was able to open the passenger window after 20 mins drive.
If this is the worst that happens, I'll be a happy man.

I'm an hour away from dealer we ordered my wife's Cherokee from but will have it serviced at a dealer 13 miles from house. I don't buy from the closest dealer due to fact he doesn't give squat for trade in but has a great service department. So I can somewhat understand how far you have to travel.
