Rear drive shaft play

I actually took a video a year or so ago of the normal play but must have erased it as I can't find it now. But if you grab the end of the shaft at the red arrow and rock back and forth (in addition to front-to-back, towards and then away from the PTU ), it will move a few mm in each direction. This is normal tolerance (play).

As long as the boot (green arrow) where the u-joint on this end of the shaft is not open and the grease come out, you're almost positively fine.

The only potential issue would be if you move it and you get A LOT of play. It's possible then the bearings on the output shaft of the PTU are worn but as it's a continually lubricated part, I would think that would be very rare.
