Random ABS pulsing, Steering noticeably heavier/different and several DTCs

I appreciate any advice/help given.
I have a 2016 Cherokee sport.
The DTCs that I currently have are; U0428 (Invalid Data Recieved from steering angle sensor module), U1409 (I'm guessing that this is "Implausible Left Front Wheel Speed Signal Received"?), and U1412 (google says, "Implausible Vehicle Speed Signal Recieved ").
The observed issues that I detect is pulsing of the brakes randomly and a tighter/ heavier/ less power steering feeling when making turns.
Is it possible that a bad speed sensor can cause the steering to behave like that? It only happens after all the alarms come on that the steering feels that way. I'm assuming that the ECU detects trouble from the ABS and sort of disables it (I'm also assuming that is why the parking brake, and Trac Control is disabled). I want to make sure that all my assumption are correct before I go replacing the wheel speed sensor. At first I thought it was my battery causing stuff to go haywire and I did in fact have a bad battery and went ahead and replaced it (which didn't solve my problem). Last question is, if I replace one speed sensor on one side, should I replace the one opposite to it (left and right or front and back)?

I appreciate all the help

I also was hoping to know if there is a way to tell the difference between a wheel speed sensor issue vs a broken tone ring.

Let's ask @sanghill

I'm having the same sort of issues at the moment but I'm fairly confident it's battery related. Bought online a decent charger/tester/reconditioner which should be here in a day or two, but in the meantime ran a plot of wheel sensors, just to be sure they weren't my issue.

That's a nice lengthy discussion with lots of good info. I haven't had a chance to look at mine yet. When I figure it out, I'll be sure to post my results for future "me's". If I want to look at my tone ring, do I have to remove the CV boot? I'm not thoroughly convinced it's the sensor. I feel like the sensor would just quit and the computer would continue to give me alerts on the dash. I might try and put my oscilloscope probes in there and see if I can get a waveform so I don't tear into the hub assembly unnecessarily. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

That's what I thought my issue was at first. I have a brand new battery in there now with clean, tight clamps. I know these vehicles get really unhappy if the voltage is 0.1% out of tolerance (that's what it seems like anyway). Good luck

I changed my wheel speed sensor and it seems to have solved the problem. It was fairly easy to change out. I appreciate everyone's help and suggestions.
Thanks again Cherokee Club!

Despite my earlier confidence in my fault being battery related, I was wrong. Fault continued after a new AGM battery and this morning I was logging all 4 wheels when the fault occured - caused by a flatline on front left wheel. Swapped over front sensors when I got home and now flatline on front right wheel. New ABS speed sensor is on it's way to me :)

ObdAlfa saved me a fortune and a lot of time.
