Hello - My vehicle is about two and a half years old, and about six months ago the radio display stopped working. I can move channels but I can see the digital display of the radio station on my screen. I have tried to reset it and nothing is working. Any ideas?

Only six months ago? Did you consider your warranty?

Warranty is 3/36 bumper to bumper. A trip to the dealer is free under it. It will also give the dealer a chance to check any software updates that are due.
Good luck..............

Hi mbuchanan918,

Sorry to hear about this! You can check for any updates for your Uconnect system by entering your VIN here: https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/. If the update doesn't help or if there isn't one available we would recommend visiting your local dealership for further diagnosis. Feel free to PM our page with any additional questions or concerns.

Hi mbuchanan918,

Has your dealership addressed this at all for you? Are you still within the basic warranty by mileage (36K)?

So the OP has something wrong, sits on it for six months, four people have asked if he's still under warranty and there's no answer. I think this thread should be deleted before anyone else wastes time on it.

The post was posted only 7 hours ago. Some people only log in once a day most even less. We will see what happens.

The thread also serves as a point of reference for others that may have a similar issue like i did this morning.
My 2016 Cherokee Sport UC 5, Screen Blank and Buttons around screen not doing anything. Radio works and volume knob functions, Steering wheel buttons work (also looks like UC voice command is functioning in background). I believe my Jeep is within 3/36 warranty.

We're sorry to hear you're having trouble with your screen, BRau0303. Are you planning on making your Jeep dealer aware? Feel free to send us a direct message if we can be of any assistance with this.

I was planning on doing that however, When I went to leave work yesterday afternoon it was working fine and this morning it was ok as well. I have seen it switch sources on it's own a few times over the last 2.5 weeks but that was the only major issue I had seen. I looked on the UC website and checked if a software update was available for my unit, site said my unit is up to date. I currently have nothing to show the dealer. Are these units affected by sub 32 deg temp's like 28 degrees (F) I had wondered about that but it's been colder before I had that issue.

Hello BRau0303,

Thanks for clarifying. Since we are not trained technicians, we wouldn't be able to provide advice as to why this is occurring. Since we rely on our dealerships, be sure to let us know once you head in. We'd be glad to help throughout that process.

My screen has gone black a few times over the past couple months. I entered the VIN on the website and it said I was available for an update. So I downloaded the files and plugged it into the car's USB and it said the files were old and my current system was working with a newer update. So if it persists, I'll have to take it to the dealer. Car's not under warranty any longer so I'll see how long I can live with it rather than paying $150 to get an, "I don't know what the problem is..."

thanks, I'll probably only take it on if becomes a huge problem. Right now, it's just an infrequent annoyance more than anything.

Actually, I believe the OTA update is the latest files you can get. U-connect web ones are the old set before the OTA. OTA is now the only way all updates are being done.

You might want to try a forced reboot of the u-connect system. I believe there are two different ones. A soft restart and a hard forced reboot that will reinstall the software. The forced hard one is under the dealer settings in the u-connect. You will have to reset all the user information and stations on that one. There are directions in the threads in this forum if you do a search. Can not remember them off the bat.

I have a 2016 Cherokee and my radio will randomly quit working after starting the vehicle. Took it to Jeep today and was told it will need to be replaced. The radio will come back on, but could be upwards of 10-20 min. Jeep told me if I don't have it replaced, it could fail altogether. How can a vehicle that isn't 2 years old yet have a junk radio? The vehicle has 43K on it, so it is out of warranty. I have been a loyal jeep guy for years, had several wranglers without issues. Bought a 2015 Renegade for the wife in July of 15, and that turned out to have transmission issues that the dealer could not figure out. I traded it in on this 16 Cherokee, and now the radio is junk after almost 2 years. Never buying a Jeep again. These vehicles are JUNK!

I’m having he same issue. Occasionally when I start the jeep, the radio won’t come on for 10-20 minutes. It just started a couple weeks ago
