Our TH does not have the comfort/convenience package, but we do have the NAV package. So when my wife (who is used to automatic headlights) gets in last night for the first time at night, she didn't even think that it was only the DRL's on in front, and that she was driving with no lights.

So, when the policeman pulled her over, she couldn't imagine what she did wrong.

But, the TH came through again, and the cop was very nice and commented on how nice the Jeep was, and he let her go without any warnings or anything! (I know I would have been ticketed if it was me)

That could have been a steep learning curve...luckily, the TH came through!

I have been driving cars for the last 25 or so years in which the lights came on when you started the car and went off when you killed it. No DRLs, just all lights on/off, even tail lights, etc. I understand her (and many others who are used to it) confusion with the DRLs being on. That's one thing I never understood about DRLs...why not just turn on the lights? It would end the confusion and be safer in all weather. There have been plenty of times I've come up on someone with only DRLs on in bad weather and you can't see them in front of you because there are no rear lights on.

Glad the TH came through though ;-}

I've driven multiple times without turning the lights on because the dash elements are lit up. I've not had a vehicle where the speedometer etc are lit up all the time.

Must be seeing those lit up I don't even think about the headlights not being on, subconsciously must be thinking they are on.

We are experiencing the same "learning curve".
My wife's previous vehicle had auto-headlights, and my Liberty does too, so we both regularly pull out of the driveway at night with only the DRL on.
I'm not so worried about getting a ticket as much as I am about somebody rearending us due to no tail lights.
I have called my wife in the Cherokee when she leaves in the early AM to remind her to turn on the headlights.
Hopefully we'll get used to it.

Isn't there an "auto" setting for the headlights? My kids 2000 Chevy Impala has automatic headlights for Pete's sake!

I turn my lights on 99% of the time. I actually found it dumb that the Jeep isn't programmed to automatically shut the headlights off if the alarm is armed with the headlight switch set to on. It only works on the Auto setting.

My wife's 2010 Mazda6 and my Mazda3 and Audi all would handle auto shut off with the headlights set to on.

I know it shuts the interior off automatically after a set time, would think it turns off the headlights also.
Auto headlights aren't the norm yet on lower end trims of many cars. If you want it that bad, pony up.
