I have heard some people say due to the size of the Cherokee and how the driver will be seated, it will be tough to average out it when parking, so with that being said it might be best to get this if it's not already standard.

It is part of the technology option group on the Trailhawk and Limited. I still don't trust a computer to drive my car.

It already has a backup camera with a warning sensor. I just don't feel like this is necessary. Plus its cool while its new, but in 5 years after the sensor has started to wear, will it still be trust worthy?

I don't see the big deal or the danger. You always have your foot on the brake, if it starts to do something wrong step on the **** brake!! :) I don't see much value long-term in this feature though. It is really cool, but I doubt I'd use it much. Plus, in the video, it didn't really do that nice of a job. A little far from the curb isn't it? I should probably re-watch...that was my first impression from a few days ago.

Then again, my wife avoids parallel parking like the plague. She could use it, but she's not that into technology, so the one that could use it the most would probably never learn how to use it. I'm guessing that's going to be fairly typical. Still, as a programmer, it's a pretty **** cool feature, and I'm sure I'd show it off a few times, probably more than I'd use it for real. :)

Good thinking, But i really knew that a sensor would go bad or lose it sensitivity. That's why I hate depending on things especially sensors. The only problem is for those who would depend on it day in and day out and then when that one day where the sensor goes bad is when your asking for trouble.

unlike sensors for the powertain and drivetrain, sensors for the exterior are quite reliable due to how much more simple they are. The only real issue is getting dirt on them to a point it thinks you've come in contact with something and beeps non stop. Just keep them clean.
