Owner post delivery checklist

I should be taking delivery today, yesterday my new TH was in the middle of 50 other vehicles being offloaded at the dealer. Reading through the forums over the past couple weeks I feel like I've learned a lot already, thanks everyone!

Now on to the topic, I've read things like, disconnected ground straps, loose fuses, low fluid levels etc. How about a user contributed new car checklist and maybe even make it a sticky?

Great list. Thank you for sharing..
Left click on the picture and you should be able to read the text.
That list has problems on it I've never even heard of... did they fix anything for the 2015s?

Not sure what you are specifically referring to but you do realize that this is @sanghill's personal checklist from when he took delivery early in the year.

It is meant as a starting point so you can make your own personal checklist based on issues that are happening now and the packages / options you ordered and what you feel is important. sanghill is not going to make a personalized checklist for you.

Correct me if I am wrong sanghill. :)

Thanks, Tips... I assumed when Sanghill wrote "This is my checklist" that he meant exactly that... how many ways can you take that, really?

Anyways, like I said... here is an example: "Make sure exhaust clamp was rotated. - It wasn't."

One thing I thought I'd mention is to make sure the chassis ground cable is connected to the vehicle computer. Should be on the drivers side of the engine a silver box. There should be a ground cable connected from it to the drivers side chassis near the wheel well. Mine was never connected at the factory, so I unknowingly drove around that way for six months and now I have a number of electrical problems. I don't know if the current electrical problems are related to the ground cable not being connected to the computer. Good luck and enjoy your new Cherokee.
Gotcha @John15:13. Here's another thread on some checklists as well.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I just placed my factory order yesterday, but I'm nervous with all the problems and issues reported on this forum.

No Problem, I know where you are coming from. Same thing here ... was on this site pre-order, saw a lot of issues creeping up that i would not want ... listed them out and made sure I checked on things even though for most of the big issues it is not possible to check at delivery time but still.

Basically I want everyone to have an amazing Cherokee purchase experience as I have had and want everyone to feel the same way about their new vehicle that i have had.

Good luck with your new purchase. I think you'll love it.

Sanghill personal recommendations:
The Trailhawk really needs Mopar rock rails to be Trail Rated.

Have the wheel alignment checked by a Jeep dealer sooner than later. Should cost about $100.
So far non Jeep dealers do not have the updated software. Including Hunter.
The alignment seems to be stable even after going off road. Driving over curbs is another matter.

Have some kind of a trailer hitch rear bumper available when going off road.
Out East we have trees. In Moab not so many.

Put a paint mark on oil filter cover so you can see that it is installed correctly to the proper torque.
Just pull up on the plastic engine cover on the 4 corners to remove it so you have access to the filter.

Spray battery terminal protector on the battery terminals and all of the ground connections that you can find. This may help to find missing grounds.

Cut the end off the bolt for the front muffler clamp if you are going off road. My muffler shop did it for free.

Check the cold tire pressure reading with an accurate tire gauge. (just in case the dealer did not adjust it during PDI)

add more checks?

Seems this thread is being ignored so won't add any comments other than this one.

Why can't I see this list? Was it linked from your post?

re posted my 2 page check list.
The only thing I would add is to make sure the 2 transmission cooler lines are actually connected to the front of the transmission. There have been other posts where it was not. Please add your own suggestions.
