San Juan County road crews already have Cinnamon Pass and Ophir Pass roads open to the top from the Silverton side. This is as of April 9 on the calendar and crews were working on Engineer Pass. Often, these roads still are being plowed on Memorial Day or later.
These trails are also reported to be clear:
➤ Eureka to Animas Forks.
➤ Animas Forks to the top of Cinnamon.
➤ The Cunningham Gulch road.
➤ Ophir Pass to the top.
Although it has been snowing in the San Juans this weekend, trails may be open sooner than June!

I have traveled the Alpine loop every year in the last 10 years. Always been in a Wrangler. I sold my Rubicon and bought a T.H. Trying to decide if I want to take it on the loop. I would like to drive to the Uncompahgre trailed for a fourteener hike. They must have a small snow pack if roads are already open. Some have been closed well into June in years past.
