Hey KL owners! Is anyone based near the Ottawa area? I've been exploring a lot just north of Ottawa in the Outaouais region.
I'm fine with driving a bit for meet ups as well.
Ideally it would be great to somehow connect, share experiences, trails etc with other TrailHawk owners.

Cheers

There are a few Ottawa area people around here.

One area for some light off-roading is the Limerick Forest south of Kemptville. I've taken my TH in there a few times with no issues.

I'm looking at trying a hydro trail off California Rd near Calibogie sometime, just waiting for it to dry out a bit.
California Rd its self is listed as a trail but I drove that in my Dodge Journey no problem so not really a challenge for the Jeep.

There are a few Jeep clubs in the area but I'm a little hesitant to join since I "only" have a stock TH; not looking to do body damage. I'd like to get some rock rails sometime once I can save the $$$.

I’ve driven through Limrick Forest on the main road, didn’t realize there where any trails that were vehicle friendly, thought they were all for atv’s and dirt bikes.

Hey all!

K&P trail is pretty cool up in Lanark area. I mainly roll down forest logging roads around Otter Lake QC. About 1hr north of Ottawa. Around Petawawa towards Algonquin park has some nice crown land also with lots of forest roads.
I'm happy to show folks some cool locations in and around there if we can find a date that works.
This weekend i'm heading up there with a friend who has a Wrangler. Goal is too find a nice quiet lake and make camp.

And yes to rock sliders....i would like to get some also. 8,7 inches of clearance is just enough to get into trouble.

Limerick Forest Trails

Solid yellow for sure and most the of the dotted red; not dotted yellow.

I've driven most of the solid yellow and some dotted red, no problem.

-------

I've driven some the of the K&P with my Journey, no issues.

-------

Lots of road allowances down near Napanee, drove a bunch last year. A little hard on the paint, a few light scratches that mostly buffed out.

Looking at this hydro trail, level 2 from what I've read, should be fine for stock TH but having two + vehicles would be better.

Starts top right, exits middle bottom.

My dash cam of one of my more interesting off-road runs.

Last year we did the Camp NL with the OF4WD near Minden. Bone stock 2018 Trailhawk and it was amazing. We only did the Newbie run along Scotch Line but we kept up with the Wranglers the whole way. Everyone we met was really cool and the trail guides worked hard to get us over everything. Skidplates are your friend. We removed some excess material from the exhaust mounts, clearly an engineering oversight on Jeep's part. It was pretty scary at times to realise that one wheel or another was a couple feet in the air and we were pointed straight down. There were more than a few sceptics when we arrived, but by the ice cream break at Kawartha Dairy we had shown them just how capable the Cherokee can be. If you do go get there early to get a good campsite as they fill up quickly. The catered food was amazing. We are heading to B.C. this year so won't be able to attend, but it's worth considering if you want to do see what your Jeep can do.

Trail Run with EOTB

Looks like the Eastern Ontario Trail Blazer club is doing an open trail run down the Darling line. This is one of the trails I was looking at trying since it is listed as stock friendly.

Good chance I'll attend this run, $20 fee for newbie's.

Here is some info.

June 29th, that may be doable for me as well, and looks like a good run for someone new like myself.

Check in: still planning on going, just watching the weather.

FYI, from a recent post on the EOTB FB group, looks like the trail is quite easy and they go off the main trail to access different obstacles. Sounds like it should be easy to pick and choose which ones to try.....one of you can go first. ;-)

I have something else that has come up on that day, so won’t be making it to this run. Was looking forward to it, and will have to keep an eye out for when they do another one. For those that go, let us know how it is.

For anyone who is looking to connect with the off-road community in their area, it's always worth mentioning the value in a membership with the Ontario Federation of 4WD Recreationists. For $50 you get access to their provincial database of trails, along with the right to register for member-only events and a running list of local clubs across the province. They also maintain a "trail stewardship" program which makes for a nice way to volunteer and give back a bit to the hobby and community.
