What was your deposit fee when you ordered your new Cherokee, and was it non-refundable?
(just curious, it's been a long time since I ordered a new vehicle)

My dealer ordered mine without a deposit. That was before there were any available to sit in or drive. Usually they ask for around $500.

My dealer ordered mine as well without a deposit. It is my understanding, although your dealer may try to tell you differently, that all deposits are refundable. I suppose that could vary state to state though.

Mine didn't require as they said they'd be able to sell it to someone else should I not want it...one dealer said 500 though

Mine was $100 on a credit card which is refundable on delivery since there's a 0% financing deal here (in Ontario). Never asked if its refundable if I don't take the jeep since of course I'm taking the jeep. :)

Whether its refundable or not may depend on the dealer as well as jurisdiction. You'd want to get it in writing in any case if you think it could be an issue.

My dealer ordered mine with a refundable $100 deposit.

Just food for thought, my sales guy mentioned that they generally offer a refund with ordered cars so long as you aren't ordering it with something crazy, like say a two tone pink and lime green paint scheme, as they would be able to sell it on their lot just as easily as if they ordered it themselves.

Thats crazy, you would think something more simple that appeals to more people would sell more or have a better chance.

*aren't

looks like you got to my post before I edited it.... that is unless you really like the idea of a lime green/pink two tone! :D

$1000 bucks here, which i put towards the reduction of the price, rather than being refundable on delivery

Mine was $500, also part of net reduction. But if it comes in and I don't want it (very unlikely) I'll get my $500 back because they can put it on the lot and sell it for more than I'm paying!

I gave a dealer 500.00, they were going to change a Cherokee before it went into production. When I called ten days later, they said it was too late to change that particular Cherokee. Since my lease was fast approaching its end I hunted around. I found another in my area with a bit more equipment than I wanted. I got that one on Saturday and picked up my deposit from the first dealer this A.M.
