So I read only 4% of car-buyers special order. The other 96% want it NOW. I guess we're a special lot.:sleepy:

Ya, its all about I want mine now and immediate gratification now days. That is why so many in this country are in debt up to their eyeballs. I have learned to wait for what I want. I don't like someone else making option choices for me.

When I bought my 2003 RAM 3500 it was dealer stock. It just happened to be exactly what I wanted.

The Cherokee is the second vehicle I have ordered. First was a 2001 Dodge Durango 4x4. Put 80K miles on it in 2.5 years and traded it for the RAM.

We were lucky to find one in dealer stock that had all we wanted on it. And I also liked being able to thoroughly inspect the vehicle for physical defects and test drive it before buying it. However, I have ordered cars in the past and one I had to wait four months for. That got a bit frustrating.

Yikes!!!
I specifically requested my car to be built, as it seems to be proving that there are some bugs in the early build which have been almost ironed out now on the "non awaiting soft fix" stock

I think the likelihood of you custom ordering a vehicle has a lot to do with where you live. I think in Michigan where the likelihood of your job being somewhat dependent on the auto industry those odds increase. I think it also depends on how much of an auto enthusiast you are and if a run of the mill dealer order vehicle will satisfy you. Too, I think it involves your tolerance for waiting. Some of you on this forum were in agony over waiting for your order. Some of you have to have instant gratification.

Well, I knew what I wanted. I looked online at the ones dealers local to me had on their lots and in transit. Found one that was in transit. Went to that dealer, (after another dealer could not get this one from them) and ended up buying this one. I did not think I would find one exactly like I wanted but just got lucky.

for me, it worked out that the model TH I test drove had everything I needed and only lacked the sunroof (which I wanted, not needed)...after seeing the Black, I liked it better than the Anvil with the Black logos...if the test drive model was a red 6 cyl; I would have ordered

Depends on availability

Where I live there are 1-2 trailhawks on lots
Where I visited my sister for holiday, there were 25 trailhawks on lots

Factory Order?
If you can't find what you want and the dealer can't find it what choice does one have this early in the Cherokee game. You can wait, order, or fold!
I'll order now and enjoy this great Jeep for years to come the way I wanted it and not with stuff I did not want or want to pay for.

Cherokee Limited cherry red 4x4: Tech group, Luxury Group, Tow Group, V6, Active Drive 2, and Navigation.
