as a police officer in ny and very familiar with tints i can tell you that on a sedan 70% light transmittance is the legal limit. Only on the rear window can you have whatever tint you'd like. however on a suburban veh like the cherokee you can have the rear pass and rear drivers side windows tinted, as well as as the rear window. just so everyones aware 70% tint is basically a stock clear window. i know a lot of people with tints and most jurisdictions don't enforce it as much as others. NYC enforces tints heavily, so beware.

I'm pretty sure stock 'clear' glass is more like 95% in most cases. But yeah, 70% isn't much either.
