There aren't a whole bunch of places in NC, Uwharrie, the now privately owned Tellico, There's some place out near the beach, and of course, beach driving at OBX.
Yeah... I know :( there are several places where you can run the forest roads in VA where I grew up (where I used to take my old XJ with friends).

I haven't been out to the OBX in a very long time, I should do that this spring. I used to go fishing there three or four times a year in an old 89 F-150. I'd charge people 35.00 a tow to pull them out of wherever they were stuck, which almost always paid for the camping and beer for the trip.

Now that I have something smaller again, I want to go out to Uwharrie. I've known about that for ages, but the Pisgah one is new to me, and we drive through there every year since we spend a week or two each year out in the Smokys. There are some places in the Smokys too.

I'm not deluding myself into thinking I'm gonna go tackle moab or whatever, but I do want chances to get some mud all over the KL without having to explain to my wife why there are large furroughs in the yard

I also didn't realise that Tellico was privately owned. That's disappointing. I'm headed up on the forest roads next month when I go back home for the holidays, and a couple places I know in WV as well... time allowing.

Edit: Looks like Durhamtown Tellico is also closed, thanks to the government:

http://www.durhamtowntellico.com

"Thanks to the Division of Minerals, Energy and Land Rersources, Durhamtown Tellico will close on September 8, 2015 permanently. They are declaring the Timber cutting on the property is for the sole purpose of building ATV trails; therefore we must comply by commercial development standards. Permits and paper work will excede $350,000 or I can fight them in Federal Court. This is our government still controlling our private property rights. I am saddened to announce this for I have spent over $250,000 and operated in a professional standard of land preservation. Two of the government agencies agree with me, but the third wants the ultimate motive. Timber cutting has been part of this property for over 100 years.

Based on the videos, I see no reason the KL can't do Moab, not everything, but that's anywhere. I didn't realize Tellico was closed, ****, I always wanted to go. I'd be up for a Uwharrie run after I get off my lazy ass and install my sliders.

And hi! I'm all the way on the other side of the state, but I'd be up for a Uwharrie trip, or a Durhamtown OHV trip to GA!

I've never heard of Durhamtown...what on earth is that?
It's a private area down near Athens GA. It's over 6000 acres of ATV and motocross trails; they've also got some good Jeep trails and areas to play in. Makes for a good weekend!

This thread isn't very active. I'm in Fayetteville/ft bragg area and just bought my TH yesterday. There are some trails on the out skirts of ft bragg I'm going to go to this weekend, and occasionally after that. If anyone is interested in joining me send me a pm.

Winston Salem here. my daughter and I would be down for a trip to Uwharrie sometime next year when they reopen. but her TH is all stock, so no hard stuff/rocks for her...

Stock here except tires, have done Dutch John and the backside of Daniel and only bumped the front passenger corner plastic and popped that back out with a hairdryer and gloved hand, :D.
