I'll post pics on Tuesday when they come in. Got new 245/70/17 Firestone Destination MT's. Same tires as the SEMA trailhawk had

Wanted to go with the Goodyear Duratracs like I had on my wrangler, but they are on 4+ week backorder according to Goodyear. Need tires in 2 weeks for a St Helen run in mid michigan.

Hey Checkers please keep us up to date on how you like the Destination MT's on the KL. I used to have them on my 2006 F-150, LOVED 'EM! However towards the end of their life they were hard to balance and got a bit more wobbley. While they were newer...never hydroplaned, never spun on wet roads, never slid on Indiana ice and snow. I checked out specs, these are 50lbs, vs the OEM 34lb AT's. Thanks, they look great!

I've had the kevlar silent armours (less agressive tread) on my Ranger, in snow and on ice I have no complaints, they're winter rated which is a nice touch when the temperature dips. The less aggressive tread made them less effective in mud than the full blown MT/Rs. Keep in mind though I'm also not a serious mudder like some of you guys, just greasy trails in and around the cottage.

Desination MT's

Ok
Finally got a picture today of the new Firestone MT's on the TH

Let me say this, I have run most every major brand of Mud Tires on my various trucks and jeeps. Denmin Ground Hawgs (direction and work awesome if you mount them backwards in sand. Act like Paddle tires), Interco Super Swampers (TSL SX, SSR Radials, and Thornbirds) Goodyear Dura Tracs, Mud Kings, BFG Mud Terrains, Hankook DynaPro MT's, and Cooper SST's

The tread depth on the Firestone MT's are deeper then most any other MT tire I have run. All the brands above (besides super swampers and Ground Hawgs are 18/32 in tread depth . Super Swampers were 21/32 - 22/32 depending on which style I had). The Firestone MT's are 20/32. So they are deep. Very deep tread for this small diameter of tire.

With that being said, they are also the loudest (besides super swampers and ground hawgs) mud tires I have ever run. Does it take away from the pleasure of drving the TH? No. Im used to it. Ive never owned a car. Every truck but 1 has been a modified 4wd (AWD Trailblazer SS). Do they ride rough? NO. Do they vibrate the steering wheel? NO. Do they make the TH pull or wobble at certain speeds? NO. They just hummm. I can live with it.

Would I have rather gotten Dura Tracs? Yes. Bud didn't want to wait that long.

Stock 245/65/17 Firestone AT's are 29.5" dia.. The Firestone MT's in 245/70/17 are 30.8" dia. The tread width is about .5" narrower then the Dura tracs (8.1" for Dura Trac and 7.6" for Desintation MT and about .1" wider then the std AT's (7.5")

Overall I am happy. I got a great deal on them as the OWL tires have been discontinued and I like the look of OWL especailly on the white TH.

Mind sharing the price you paid for the Destination MT's?

MadMac - I paid $871 out the door from Firestone dealer. Tried Belle tire and discount, they couldn't touch them. In reality it cost be about $520 bucks. I sold my stock tires for $90 a piece. They had 300 miles on them. Sold them in 1 day with a listing on the craigslist.

Do you have any side profile pics of your tires? I am wondering how much wheel well space we lose when we upgrade the tire size. Do we lose some articulation (when the wheel hits the wheel well)? I guess we gain about a half an inch of ground clearance though. 9.2"!

Looks good but holy crap those must be loud. You must sound like a tank going down the street.

I assume you do a lot of off road stuff with your Cherokee?

It looks like the stock tires are going to be the perfect balance for capability, noise, and looks.

Wish they looked a bit more aggressive, though.
