New Plates!!!

I got my license plates in the mail today! I should be so excited to put them on my new car...but I haven't seen it in 14 days . It is still at the dealership waiting for the new transmission to be put in, they have now been in possession of the vehicle trying to fix it for longer than I had it after I bought it. Supposedly I am getting it back tomorrow, but seeing at it Christmas Eve, it may not happen, and I may not be able to get there to pick it up if it is late in the day. Sorry to be a such a downer, but I got that package in the mail and almost cried. I have received my car payment bill, my insurance bill, my plates and registration...yet have no car.

Oh boy. Wow, that's terrible. It IS a raw deal. Hang on there and let us know what your dealer has to say for himself. I know they didn't make the a Jeep, but they sold it.

Oh man that sucks. Sorry for the troubles but at least your dealer is taking care of it

I feel your pain. I was without my TH for a week but your issue seems so much more complex. Hope you get the car back soon and make sure it is in perfect shape. How many miles/km did it have when you brought it in?

600 miles. Total transmission replacement. They said the transmission or casing was porous and they thought it was just made at too high of a temperature or something. I am not happy. The dealer is only doing what they have to do, it is covered under the warranty and I am getting a rental with my MaxCare warranty that I already paid for. In the meantime, I have been driving a Chrystler 200 for the last 2 weeks. Thankful I have wheels, but I am still really mad. My driveway is stained completely with transmission fluid and they said the bottom of my car was coated in the stuff. I just wish they would take the car back - I have lost my appetite for it completely!

I would suggest in the strongest of terms discussing the issue with the sales manager and say that only a perfect-functioning Jeep will be acceptable. If not, then suggest they replace it. Obviously their obligation at this point is to do the repair under warranty but it never hurts to ask.

Since the repair on my TH could not even be diagnosed for an entire week I was faced with a possible long time w/o it. I have severe back problems and it was beginning to be an issue with rentals (paid for by Jeep). The dealer was prepared to consider a replacement but the car was able to be repaired on the seventh day.

You can always ask and they could say no but also mention you are posting on this forum (as you obviously are). That may get some action.

Good luck.
I'm wondering if your dealership is even diagnosing this thing right. A Porous transmission case? Odds of that happening are very rare. Mine started leaking with a transmission hose. I hope you have complained to Chrysler about this. I am not sure if Chrysler would just replace your entire Jeep but sounds like you should try. There have been a few other transmission replacements from people on here. Sorta scares me.
Well I just got off the phone with them, as I expected the car is not done. They have another days worth of work on the transmission, and they had to order another part as well, which will not come for a couple days. I guess the belly pad, which was soaked in transmission fluid needs to be replaced. If there was that much fluid, I am wondering what else has been soaking in fluid. I am not happy. Thursday will be 16 days they have had the car, I just gave the manager an earful and he told me to do exactly what I have done, with taking it up with the factory. SO frustrated
as socal bob states. Ask for a replacement after all you've been through.

I did, the dealer said I have to go through the factory for a buy back and repurchase, if that is the route I want to go. Frankly I just want my money back...

I don't blame you. Not at all.
What a disaster. Why do the people at this dealership just realize now they need to order more parts? Still sounds to me like your dealership is the problem. I wish you the best of luck with this but don't expect Chrysler to just buy yours back. I would hope they will but your vehicle will have to have a lot of other issues for them to do that. Not all dealerships fix things the same. Some are better than others.

Yuk. I was bummed at having a seemingly unsolvable problem so early in the life of the car.

Admittedly I really like this car and it is only one of 2 types that fit so my only approach was to replace it...and the dealer, I feel, would have made the appropriate arrangements to do so. It did not have to be done so the dealer was off the hook.

If the whole issue has soured you for the whole line then, by all means, try to get your money back. If your dealer is worth its salt it will intervene with the factory on your behalf. That is the least it can do! You should not have to go to the factory yourself. That is why you bought it through a dealer. If you bought it directly from Chrysler I can see you dealing with them. Don't let them pass the buck.

Just my 2 cents.
