EDIT: Just realized this is posted in the wrong forum ?‍♂ I cant figure out how to delete it, so I'll take my lashings until a mod can do it for me lol
Hey guys. I am brand new to XJ's. I've wanted one for a loooong time, and finally got to a point in my life where I'm fanacially stable so now is the time.
So I'm going to look at 1998 XJ tomorrow. It looks to be pristine, except for one thing. She says it needs a new double cardan end joint.
I am a weekend warrior DIY mechanic but have never heard of this.. i looked up replacement parts and it's fairly cheap, but is this an easy repair? Should I take my money and run? What causes these to break?
Also, she said she had it disconnected so she could still drive it. I thought it wouldn't be drivable with it disconnected? Thank you for the future replies, and I'm sorry if this has been asked before, I tried the search function but that failed.

It's probably a 4X4, right? Taking the cardan off, between the transfer case and the front axle, would make it rear wheel drive only.
