I was playing around with the Tech package and the Lane Sense feature. With this feature the Cherokee has a camera that monitors you position and will warn you with a visual warning if you start to drift out of your lane. It will also tug the steering wheel to the direction needed to correct the drift. If I remember right it engages at 37 MPH so it does not bug you if you are in a parking lot.

Ok, anyhow I was playing with this feature and wanted to see if the steering 'tug' could keep the vehicle in the lane. So I took my hands off the wheel and drifted to left and wheel tugged me back into the lane. Once again and it tugged me back. Then I started to go to other side but before that happened a loud alarm sounded and the dash EVIC displayed a big warning, "Place your hands back on the steering wheel!" The Cherokee even seemed a bit mad at me but that could have been my imagination. ( Yes, I am serious, this really happened.)

I was rather shocked my Jeep knew I did not have my hands on the wheel and wondered what else is this vehicle watching me do! Now even if I am alone in the Jeep, I am afraid to pass gas worried there may be a sensor for that.

LOL.

The first time mine yelled at me for speeding it shocked me. "The speed limit is 35!"
I got yelled at too to put my hands on the wheel. Told my wife about it, she said "great, a second wife! I don't have to say anything!". hmmmm

TOO COOL!!!! I can hardly wait!!!

Haha!!

I'm convinced that my Trailhawk-- if she talked-- would be on my side, like this...
Me: That guy didn't use his turn signal!
Jeep: What a douche.
Me: I know!
Jeep: For real.

Yeah, this happened to me too. I was testing out the lane sense feature and after about the 3rd correction, the really LOUD chime went off and the message "play hands on wheel" got displayed.

And get this...if you have the Park Sense enabled, and your sensors are blocked with ice/snow, the sensors thinks it's an object that's too close and keeps flooring the brakes when you try to back up.

I got so annoyed with this I turned the bloody thing off. It's winter...there will be ice/snow buildup on the bumpers...ya think...! :dodgy:

Maybe this is what is causing all the tranny problems in many of the Cherokees! I better watch what I eat!

My favorite with the tech package is when it senses an obstacle and slams, and I mean !!!SLAMS!!! on the brakes as you're gently backing up, like from the garage, and the main display flashes BRAKE! in red. Oh yeah, the alarm notification is going off with all this. The first time it happened I almost stained my shorts, now I'm used to it. Don't want to disable it, because when I do I'll wish I hadn't. Or the neighbor's parents will wish I hadn't.
Still love the Trailhawk.

I love how the area's speed limit shows on the navigation map, but I didn't know it would send notification if you exceeded it. DOES IT? Or is there a setting you change for maximum speed? So far, if this vehicle can find a way to yell at me, it has, except for going too fast.

Yeah, you set the threshold above the speed limit you want it to notify at. Think its a nav only feature.

Yes! Mine yells at me for speeding. I think I'll have to set the threshold up a bit past 1 MPH. But I do like that feature because that V6 is so peppy.
Yes I have heard that the Cherokee does speak when you misbehave badly especially when you do not stay in your lane.
I just wish they would give you your choice of a type of voice you wish to hear.
That would make it very interresting.
