Most unexpected good and bad thing about my 2021 TH

The most unexpected good thing for me is the hands free power lift gate. I was aware of this feature, and expected to like it, but I LOVE it! So convenient to just bring bags from the grocery store and walk up and put them in the car without setting bags down or trying to hold them with one hand and arm while I fumble in my pocket for the key fob. I do photography as a hobby, and expected to like hands-free when carrying bags of equipment to and from the car, but even in more mundane tasks, I really like it. I had noticed that the other car I was considering, The Subaru Forester, didn’t have hands free, but it wasn’t a deciding factor in choosing the Cherokee. If I had known how much I would like it, I would have made it critical!

I also really love The adaptive cruise control, but expected to feel that way. This is my first car with ACC.

I was aware of the weak gas mileage on the Jeep, but the financial hit I worried about isn’t happening because my V6 uses regular gas and my old car with better mileage used premium. On the other hand I find it annoying to fill up my tank so frequently. I don’t like to run the tank down very low, so I have ended up with a practice of filling the tank when I return any time I leave my immediate urban area. I wish the gas tank on the Jeep was bigger!

something I worried about that hasn’t been a concern is the transmission. In test drives, I considered the nine speed transmission barely adequate. But it does seem to have improved after the first thousand miles, and though I still don’t consider it a great or smooth transmission, it is good enough, and the occasional bobble doesn’t make a problem.

Overall. I do love my TH with the comfortable ride and the (seeming) go-anywhere capability!

hands free tailgate seems nice, to be honest i wish i could deactivate the power part of the tailgate somehow. I wanted to get a fold up cargo carrier, but thought if i hit the power tailgate by accident, or forgot i folded it up, it would just destroy the paint on the tailgate.

I didn't know they added hands free on the 2021, got the 2020 and i only did that because i didn't see much difference, but i guess this might be really the only major one.
They added the hands free tailgate for the 2019 model year actually. I have it on mine, and love it too!

Although, every now and then it will have a mind of it's own.
I like this button too! One amusing thing about it is that in the carwash, I often see the cleaners searching for a button on the edge of the gate lid, then frustratingly give up and close it manually. And they are often somewhat short and struggle a little. Maybe a little mean to let them keep doing that, but feels weird to approach in the middle of the cleaning/drying and show them buttons on my car.
Agreed, I love where FCA puts their power tailgate buttons.

I never understood why other car companies put their power tailgate buttons up on the tailgate when shorter people won't be able to reach it.

My question also. I have a 2020 Hawk and iI open my tailgate and start my Jeep from quite a good distance when I am coming from the store via the key fob, but no =underneath foot action. I thought I was getting this when I ordered it in 2020, but Ney.
I believe the handsfree (foot activated) rear power tailgate was a TH Elite feature?

You can look in your Uconnect to see if you have the option to disable handsfree tailgate. It does take a couple of tries to figure out the gesture, but when you get it, and the Jeep does it, its cool!

Same here as far as options, except power lift gate AND cooling seats (I have the heated option for both driver and passenger) (I bought my Hawk in the fall, so no need for the cooling seat, but I bet it's nice. .... Please tell me about the Memory Seat. I have not explored this yet. I think I have it. Every time before I get out I retract the telescopic steering wheel (love it!) and lower ther seat all the way and also move it to the rear all the way also ... this is great, gives a easy entry and exit lane. I am dealing with a bad lower back now and would love to have the option of a button to close the door (open it also, I guess) because when I reach to grab it it stretches my bad area and hurts. I thinl it was Cadillac that I saw had this. I would pay for this.
So much stuff to investigate. I just learnt I can bluetooth connect my iPhone once and then just have that option on the main MUSIC screen as anothe choice and not have to plug my phone into the USB each time I want to use it. I have the 2.0 and it gets up. Did 100 the other day and did not even notice it much.
All-in-all love the Hawk so far. Beautiful machine.
You know you have memory seats, if you have "1", "2" and "S" buttons on your interior drivers door handle trim, like this:
