2014 limited ad1 V6 with 99k miles.

48k miles oil cooler cracked (warranty)(common V6 issue)

50k miles front axles replaced for low speed vibration issue (warranty)

52k miles 1 front and 1 rear axle seal replaced due to leaking (warranty)
Both lower ball joints replaced due to sloppy dealership damaged them (warranty)

Around 75k miles transmission replaced due to noise and rough shifts (warranty)

Around 78k and 85k miles both sides of engine roller rocker bearings started failing and damaged 2 camshafts. Causing 2 separate cel's for misfires. 1st side was warranty no issue second side had to fight FCA since was out of warranty by time. Ultimately they covered it. (Common issue on the V6)

94k miles noticed coolant seeping. Upper rad hose pipe leaking at plastic fitting. (Replaced myself)

96k miles Noticed oil pooling in the V of the block. Oil cooler failed yet again. Out of warranty so replaced myself. Pita job for a cheap plastic part that should be metal but isn't. I have done all oil changes myself since getting Jeep at 45k never overtightened. Just poor quality part.

What will break next? Who knows. Will never own another Pentastar V6.

Oh forgot, 2019 TH V6 no major issues. The Uconnect freaked out in the beginning,
but has been rock solid since. The map software could be better, but not a game changer.

Lifetime Maxcare on Both, with a $100 deductible.. I'm not Keith Richards, so the Jeeps
will out live me!

I forgot, 21k miles. It's the go everywhere, do everything weekend warrior.
It gets me to my DJ gigs, and hauls all my gear, but most of my jobs are
with in 10 minutes.

FCA builds a 150,000 mile design specs into their gasoline products. Meaning on average you should easily get 150k before major overhaul or major failures. Based on past Chrysler, dodge, jeep products I would say 200-250k miles would be a realistic lifespan for most. There are some other fca models that get 300-350k miles but that would be more rare than common. Good example is my dads friend has a 2004 dodge ram 1500 4.7 v8. Transmission totally went out at 220k miles. He always serviced it regularly. My dad also has a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4.7 v8. He has over 320k miles on the original transmission with regular service as well. They both work construction so similar use of towing and hauling etc. Luck of the draw that my dad's is still going strong. His is a rare example for sure.

Why are you nervous?

No warranty and a known transmission / PTU weakness
Latest I heard $7K a new PTU and 10K for a new transmission
If both went at the same time , repair bill would be more than the cars worth !

There are tons of lightly used PTU and transmissions now from wrecked KL's on the market if the need arises where you needed one or both. Any good mechanic could install. Worse case you might have to get towed to dealer for programming but that wouldn't cost a ton. Cheaper than a new car payment over time for sure.

2014 Trailhawk V6 (Bought Used in 2016 with 51k miles)
Over 134k miles on it

PTU has an internal failure as Low Range no longer engages (yet all other drive modes work), and power liftgate motor also failed. Otherwise, everything else works as intended. This is both my personal, and work vehicle. On average, I do about 20-25k miles/year, so I'm expecting over 200k miles on it within the next three years. My grand plan is for this to last me up to 300k miles. I do anticipate to replace the PTU at some point, but transmission I think if I flush the fluid from time to time, it should last well over that.

Besides oil changes, filters, and normal routine maintenance, it's been a good vehicle overall.

At the dealer, I got a quote for a new PTU at $2300US + Tax, so 7k sounds ridiculously high. I would think even a new transmission would only set you back maybe 4-5k at the dealer. Expect about 2/3rds the price at a good independent shop.
