Key Fob Issue 2015 Cherokee Longitude

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so apologies if it is in the wrong place, I have checked other forum posts and cannot get a definitive answer.

we are in the UK and have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee longitude. It has this key fob (electronic) only. It does not have push start or remote start. It does have a manual key that pulls out, but as far as I know this can only unlock the door and glove box. The electric key is only detected, probably once ever 30 times after jigging it around. We have spoke to a local garage and they have said that it us to go to a Jeep dealer to have the programming updated (this is booked in). Or it could be a sensor issue.

In the mean time, is there a way to start the car? Usually there is some sort of back up to start the car. I know the newer models can be tapped against the push button (but this doesn’t have one) and I can see any other slots for a key to go

I hope this makes sense. Can anybody advise? Has anyone else had a similar issue too?

Thanks for the update. Now I am at a loss.
Maybe the ignition key receptacle in the dash needs to be replaced? I give up.
I have the same key system, never had a problem (2015 also). Definitely sounds like an ignition module problem, particularly since the second fob can't do better. I just don't know the specifics on these ignitions. Dealer should know...
