Key Fob Issue 2015 Cherokee Longitude

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so apologies if it is in the wrong place, I have checked other forum posts and cannot get a definitive answer.

we are in the UK and have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee longitude. It has this key fob (electronic) only. It does not have push start or remote start. It does have a manual key that pulls out, but as far as I know this can only unlock the door and glove box. The electric key is only detected, probably once ever 30 times after jigging it around. We have spoke to a local garage and they have said that it us to go to a Jeep dealer to have the programming updated (this is booked in). Or it could be a sensor issue.

In the mean time, is there a way to start the car? Usually there is some sort of back up to start the car. I know the newer models can be tapped against the push button (but this doesn’t have one) and I can see any other slots for a key to go

I hope this makes sense. Can anybody advise? Has anyone else had a similar issue too?

Also, have changed batteries in key fobs, tested the car battery etc.
Thanks. The other key fob is the exact same.

it locks and unlocks the doors. But when I insert it and turn it, no lights come on, no sound either.

On the odd occasion it does work, all the lights come on and it starts fine.
