The time had finally come to replace my 92 Cherokee (XJ) Limited that had almost 400,000 kms on it, and had given us more than 20 trouble-free years of driving.

The new beast is optioned as follows:
  • 3.2 liter engine
  • trailer tow group
  • cold weather group
  • comfort/convenience group
  • Nav with subwoofer
  • cloth interior

I went with the cloth seats after taking a couple of test drives in -20 degree weather and realizing that the seat heaters don't actually heat the back 6 inches of the seat bottom. Hard to believe that got past Jeep's quality control group, but its something that I couldn't live with. It'll be interesting to see if/when they fix that.

The hardest part now is waiting for it to be built. Will hopefully have it by February 2014.

Hey, Congrats on the new ride, and welcome to the forums!!!

What package did you end up going for, another Limited?

My wait has been 3 weeks so far, with another 5 weeks or so to wait!

Enjoy your new beast, and look forward to see some pics when your getting it!

HUH? My heated leather seats sure don't have that problem on my Limited. If they have any problem it is that both the seats and the steering wheel get too hot at times when in the "high" setting.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

It was my wife that first noticed it, but we took out a North version, and a Limited, both with heated leather seats from 2 different dealerships, and they both suffered the same problem. Both seats were stone cold where the bottom cushion meets the seatback. It seemed like the heating element just didn't go far enough back to cover the whole seat. I loved the look of the leather, but figured the cloth would be warmer if the demo vehicle's seats were the norm.

Wow, I hope your new ride does you as well as this one. 400,000 km over 20 years and no trouble is impressive. I wonder if this mean I have to keep my 2003 JGC that has 205,000 km on it another 10 years instead of the one or two I was figuring on? :) Darn you, you've picked out just about the order I'd like too. Can't wait to see your photos. Weird about the seats.

I probably should have joined this forum before I purchased, and asked the question, but isn't hindsight wonderful?!?!? Hopefully I won't be disappointed with the cloth seats.

Our XJ has been absolutely bullet-proof, and it has done quite a bit of off-roading in Utah every spring. It's made me a Jeeper for life.

I was debating whether to go black or white when I was ordering it, then I saw a picture of the cherry red one, and changed my order on the spot. Getting the color right was the hardest part of the whole ordeal.

congrats. i'm glad that another cherokee owner decided to purchase the new KL's. So far, all i hear are the negatives from xj's. Congrats once again, and welcome to the forum.
You'll notice in my signature that I still have a yard full of XJ's.
I'll probably never get rid of them.
Congrats to the guy ordering the new TH.
They look great in deep cherry red.
