I've tried searching, and have only come across people who have lost a key fob, or can't unlock the door with the current one.

I'm having an issue with one of key fobs...It will unlock/lock/set off the alarm, but will not start the vehicle.
Turn the key and nothing happens. Toss the other key fob in, and starts right up.
I've put in new batteries, but the issue still remains with key fob #1 .

Figured maybe it needs to be reprogrammed, but can't find any instructions on how to do this.
Trying to avoid a dealer visit. Both are original key fobs, one works flawlessly, and the other will only control the locks/alarm.

Can this be reprogrammed without a dealer trip?

An automotive locksmith MAY be able to reprogram your fob for less than the dealer would charge. Call one, and they should send a van to your location. Me, I would just have the dealer do it. In fact, that's what I did over the summer when we lost one of the fobs for our 2018. I bought a new fob online to save money (Jeep OEM, not some clone), but had the dealer do the programming and key cutting. Since it appears you'll have only a programming charge (unless the fob has gone bad), the cost should be tolerable.

I don't think you can do this on your own.

Can you shake your malfunctioning fob and listen for a loose piece jumping around? When the immobilizer chip (the one that generates codes for the car) broke in my key fob, I was able to use the buttons on the key fob to lock/unlock but I was unable to start the car.

Key fob is very easy to open so alternatively you could open and see if you have broken connections.

Had same problem. Was told the circuit board in the fob was toast by chrysler tech. Just using the good one now. Might buy another fob or another car. These cars are junk. But its a FIAT.
