I know, I know, it's hard to give up the past, especially when it is a cool 1988 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer inherited from in-laws! But it was time. Maintenance costs were building up and...c'mon , it was just time. Sold it to a handy guy who will take care of it. He took this photo as my wife Nancy and I walked away from her (Nancy looks like she's saying, "I can't believe we did this" but she was fine with it). I took delivery of the very different 2014 version and I ain't lookin back.

I did the same with my '01 Cherokee. Loved it, thought I was never going to part with it. Then the 2014s came out and it was all "can't wait for the new Trailhawk".

My '01 has a good home though. I have it to my niece and she is loving it like I did. My brother, who is way more mechanical than I am, will keep it going for her.

It was sad day when I sold my 04 grand Cherokee V8 SE to a relative when the new one arrived at the dealer. When I saw it drive away it brought a tear to my eye. It had a lot of gizmos on it. It was great but it was time for a change.
I had no idea what awaited me and the wife when we picked up the 2014 Cherokee. After 10 days all I can say is its an unbelievable vehicle!
I think we got more change than we bargained for, "look honey no keys".
