I have the same question. Looking for an answer as well. Mine is 2014 Cherokee 3.2 V6 and I think our cars use the same fuel injectors
Hi
@2014cherokeelimited , good question and one that comes up every now and then. Some of the Cherokee 3.2 injectors run upwards of $100 whereas the Grand Cherokee are like $30! What's that about????
While I don't know the specific differences (I've never had both in my hands to examine them in detail - their dimensions, ohms across the leads etc.) I can say that my recommendation would be absolutely get the ones for your Cherokee based on the VIN. Pretty much every story of someone using an alternate injector ends with a CEL and Pxxx code for fuel/air ratio or similar on the cylinder with the different injector. The ONLY exception I've heard of is that Napa Parts does offer an aftermarket injector that's about $20 less than the dealer and it seems to work fine as a replacement but for the minimal price difference, I'd go with the Mopar.
A couple things:
1. Shop around. For example, for a 2014 it can be had on some Mopar online parts sites for $88.
2. One reason the Grand Cherokee may be different is that the 3.6 got an enhancement in 2016 with upgraded injectors, a cooled EGR, variable valve lift and a bunch of other changes etc. It lost its flex-fuel capability in the process. A bunch of differences from our Cherokees so that injector is different because the engine itself is significantly different.
3. Definitely choose your model/year and preferably VIN. You'll notice for example, even for the 3.2 Cherokee, the 2018+ injectors have a different part number.
