Fuel consumption?

Good find on the ticking. Sounds like you caught it before it caused any damage to the cams which is the key (y)

Regarding the radiator, to me, it doesn't make a difference as long as the fan assembly fits on it correctly (e.g. it's roughly the same size as the stock radiator). In the end, it's just an aluminum and plastic component that coolant goes through like any radiator and on the Cherokee, the transmission cooler is not integrated with the radiator so no difference there.

@maxrfinch, anyone else any thoughts?
I would give it a shake test and make sure it’s tight. Otherwise agree

Did you ever get this resolved? I recently replaced my purge valve in an attempt to chase down a pesky evap leak code (already replaced gas cap and evap leak pump).

Before my MPGs had dropped about 16% - 20%, after replacing the purge valve I not only noticed a more peppy throttle but my MPGs are back as well.
