My engine shuts down at lights MPG still stink, even highway! My Wrangler JKU I traded was as good, very disappointed! Like the TH but mileage I think is poor. Most of my driving/commuting is highway, 21 would be good!
I've gotten in real trouble on other threads talking about everyone's beloved V6 Cherokees and how good their mileage is (?) and don't want to cause trouble here but I am disappointed and we have two of these TH buggers! Neither one has ever seen a 9th gear at speeds to 80 down hill and on my 60 mile highway commute, mostly 7th, that's the trouble., other than that they both shift sweet! Same trip in my JKU with it's 5 speed would pull 21/22 mpg consistently. I'm done here!:wink:

Wow some of you are getting good mileage on your THs. I have about 4000 kms on my TH, V6 engine, and on a full tank with 60% city driving and 40% driving, I get about 400 km a tank only!
Just above 1300 km's on the Trailhawk and finally getting a handle on the tranny and how to manipulate it for good mileage. I have found while on a secondary highway at around 95 to 100 km/h I need to speed up a little past that number and then let off the gas to get it in to 8th gear. Same thing on the 401 where I would go past the speed i wanted to cruise at and then let off the gas to drift back down to the speed i wanted. This gets the tranny going up a gear and above 2K rpm and then drops down to around 1600 in 8th. If i put it on cruise control it will want to stay in a higher gear gear and linger there. I have also used the + and - increments on the cruise control to speed up and upshift and then decrease to get it to drop down a gear again. Not enough experience yet to see if it works all the time but have seen a big improvement on the evic numbers.

I got my TH V6 back in Aug and the average I get for city driving is 13L per 100km. Recently I got a chance to drive to Quebec from Toronto and the hwy average was 9L per 100km. This was on snow tires but I think all season would get even more for highway.
Definitely the city average would vary depending on how hard you hit gas paddle and traffic lights encountered.
Please let me know if am at par with majority of Cherokee TH owners out there. I am happy with my jeep and love taking it out for every chance I get.

Welcome to the forum
Your numbers are pretty good. Big city driving is not what these crossovers do well, as far as gas consumption, so 13L/100Km is average for this type of driving. 9L/100Km on the highway is very good for a 3.2 TH (26 mpg US).

Just to chime in some of my more recent numbers I've been getting. The last couple of weeks, I have not used the remote start as often compared to when it was frigidly cold out, and I've been averaging around 20-22mpg, which is not too shabby for what I would say is 60% City, 40% Highway. I know I would easily get over 300 miles on a tank for average driving. If I were more Highway driving, then 350 mile would easily be achievable. Now, I do wonder if I could reach the Holy Grail of 400 miles for a TH, which only equates to around 25.1mpg.
My worst gas mileage on a tank was 14.3mpg, but that was because I used remote start every morning, AND there was one day when it was very cold out while at work, so I left the TH running for most of the morning so I could warm up throughout rather than freeze my butt off.
EDIT: Sorry, I'm not from CA, so maybe my numbers don't mean anything. Didn't check where this thread was posted. :dodgy:

To better investigate fuel consumption on your KLs, check out http://www.fuelly.com/car/jeep/cherokee
Me, and quite a few other KL owners, have been keeping track of our mileage using that tool. It's an IOS and Android app if you'd like to start contributing your numbers as well.
As for me, I just took a road trip from Austin to New Orleans for NYE. The best mileage I got was 24.4-ish (all highway) but as soon as I'm off of the highway my mileage rivals what I was getting on my JK before I lifted it.
I do have the V6 + Towing option, and I was going 70 - 80 most of the time. If I lived in another state that doesn't let you go as fast, I'm sure I'd get much better mileage. =)

We have a 2015 with V6 and AD1 and start stop feature. I follow the speed limit so my consumption figures reflect speeds of 100-110 km/hr highway. We have run on synthetic oil and we refuel at any station that sells the cheapest fuel. Our highway fuel consumption is often under 8.0l/100km and we have seen 7.0. I think speed is a huge issue. Our Jeep may look slippery but it still is equivalent to a barn door pushed into the wind. I think driving style is the major factor in consumption followed closely by wind conditions.

One of our TH's has gotten better since last post, 14,500 miles on odo now. Other TH still kinda crummy same commute?
Don't forget winter gas is crappy and after a certain outside temp always in AWD!! Pretty smart vehicle I suppose, but I'm not sure I like that rather select that myself?? I'm sure that makes a difference in MPG/KPG??

Previous vehicles were a Tercel and then a Focus. Bit of a shock but much more vehicle here. Also reading the other Jeep models are worse so I guess I'm a happy medium.

I have the same year, same engine, live in Chicago. 90% of my driving is in the city, my combined average is 18.8 over 15k miles. I think your low. Are you driving in SPORT mode all the time? That would lower your mpg....
