Does anyone flat tow a Jeep Cherokee? I have a 2016 and I am trying to figure out if it can be towed. Users manual says it needs a 2 speed power transfer unit and I am not sure if that is what I have. This is my Jeep

Thanks for any help :)
I think you need Active Drive II to be able to flat tow, if I'm not mistaken. Yours is ADI, so you don't have a true neutral, so I'm gonna say yours can't be flat towed...😎

I have not done it, but the previous owner flat towed mine (had to take all that stuff off when I bought it). What everyone said above is correct. You would need to make sure it has active drive 2 as its required to put the transfer case in neutral, which ADI can't do. You window sticker does look like its AD1. You can also check by this picture.

You need this N button. This is ADII, as you can see it has 4wd low. If yours does not have 4wd low and only selec-terrain, its adI, and must be towed on a dolly.

Can’t tow AD1 with a dolly. Must be on a full trailer with all 4 wheels off the ground.

That's correct. I said dolly, but was thinking trailer. Defiantly don't dolly a ADI. Only FWD.

There are front drive only AD1's that in theory could be a dolly candidate unless there is something I am unaware of (which is most of the knowledge in the universe)

Wrong! All Active Drive Cherokees are 4X4!
You have a choice of FWD, AD I (4X4 High), AD II (4X4 High/Low), AD II Lock (4X4 High/Low/Lock)
The FWD can be towed with the front wheels on a dolly,
The AD II and AD II Lock can be TOADs
The AD I must go on a flat bed/trailer (and of course, any Cherokee can...)

I have a 2018 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 with the latitude 2. You need that N bottom next to the 4x4 control knob.
Welcome from Utah!!! Yes, you do. Your Cherokee needs to be equipped with AD2 4x4 system in order to flat tow, as it has the transfer case neutral, where AD1 does not. Your Latitude may, or may not be Active Drive 2. Do you have 4Low, and that neutral button??? If so, then you have AD2, if not you have AD1, and it can't be flat towed. Hope that helps...😎
