I'm thinking about taking a camping trip up to Moab, UT this summer to do some mountain biking and some off roading in my new TH. Any recommendations? Also, has anyone completed their Badge of Honor for Fins and Things? If so do you think the stock TH will have any issues completing this Jeep Trail? I'm a beginner, and the Badge of Honor webpage has this trail listed at a 3-4 easy to moderate difficulty.

Thanks!

May want to consider spring/fall, as summer almost limits you to morning and evening rides. Went riding there in fall a few years back, as i was advised against summer.

September in Moab is awesome. I love that place. I've never Jeeped there though; just biked, hiked, and trail run.

I think you'll be just fine. I'm planning a trip out there this summer and the jeeps that they rent are stock, so that makes me pretty confident a TH can handle the trails

Thanks for the reasurance Alex! I watched a few of the "Tales of the Trailhawk" videos on youtube. They show the TH going through the Rubicon and ****'s Revenge trails which are much more difficult with ease. So Fins and Things should be an easy run.

The TH won't have any issues with Fins N Things. I did it in my old CJ-5 and have seen stock open/open TJs on it. Just be careful on the fins and follow the existing tracks.

****'s Revenge has bypasses on the harder obstacles. The TH should be able to do that as well. I would recommend having another vehicle with someone more experienced with you just in case.

Shaffer Canyon up into Canyon Lands National Park is easy and you can come back down via Long Canyon. That makes for a nice drive and lots of places to stop during the day.

I have only been on a few trails out there and most of them the TrailHawk will not be able to do without body damage. There are a couple of back roads I know but I can't give you directions to them. As I don't know all the names for them.

Thanks for posting this. I didn't realize there were trail sites posted by Jeep. Even have a few relatively close by me (Arkansas and Missouri) since I'm in far eastern Oklahoma. I see a trip to at least one of these in the not too distant future.

I went mountain biking in Moab and Park City in September 2013. This site has a lot of good info: http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/

It's really a good idea to bike with other people. Some of the trails around Moab are rarely traveled. If you crash and get into trouble it might be a while before someone finds you. Phone reception is poor to nonexistent on many trails.

The weather was just about perfect for biking the last week in September.

The Love Muffin Cafe in Moab serves great breakfast!
