We finally have some evidence of what jeep is planning for its next model. These spy shots may look like a camouflaged Fiat 500L, but they aren't! This model will have both a Fiat and a Jeep emanation, and both will be built in Italy. The Fiat version will be called the 500X, while we still don't know what the Jeep will be called (any ideas?)

The Jeep version will be boxier while the Fiat version will be rounder like the rest of the 500 line. The Jeep will also offer all-wheel drive as an option.

definitely not your traditional jeep, seems like jeep wants to start offering some new vehicles, ones it never ever did in the past. i think for it's segment it will do good, seems to be a direct competitor to the Fiat 500

At the moment that is still firmly in car territory. I was under the impression they were going to try and make it a small CUV. They could just be experimenting with the underpinnings. I wonder what those cables that attach to the wheels are.

Allpar.com has good info on these but I understand that no name has been settled yet.

The Jeep will look somewhat different. If you go back about 15 months when the auto mags were posting spy shots of the Liberty/Cherokee replacement vehicle it looked like the Fiat SUV... but as we know the real skin turned out quite different.

My two cents (based on the decision making behind the new Cherokee).
The competition is the Mini Countryman/Subaru Crosstek. I think the little Jeep has to be as good looking as the crosstek and as innovative as the Mini. It will have better a better offroad version than either of these two (the Cherokee Active Drive II with lock) would be the trail rated version.

from what I've read, Jeep will be replacing the Patriot/Compass with one vehichle...could this be it? and, choosing one name over the other...for this, I would say Compass, it looks like a hand held compass on wheels
