Good Evening,
I have been having a sound coming from the passenger side of my engine and I have 2 prime suspects. The water pump and the serpentine belt. I had a slight noise the mechanic couldn’t diagnose but it started becoming more noticeable after I went off-roaring and got pretty muddy and went through some puddles. I figured the belt was just dirty so I took it to the hand wash and gave it a good rinse and it was fine for a while. The noise started to slightly come back and I tried the good old deodorant trick which also helped briefly but this afternoon while starting up my car it began to squeak again. After the car is running for a while the noise seems to get better and go away. However it’s very high pitched and doesn’t seem normal. I don’t have any coolant leaks which makes me think it might not be the water pump but who knows. I also just recently replaced the coolant thermostat after a check engine light and faulty code. I’m stuck between wondering if it’s a belt, pulley, or bearing somewhere in that system or if it’s a water pump. I’ve attached a video of the noise and would love any and all opinions or diagnoses.
