I have a hard time accepting that a nearly $100K Land Rover, or any other $100K vehicle, is the "fastest selling" in the entire United States. Does that mean more were sold in November than any other vehicle? I have a feeling there's some creative numbers behind this article.

If you special order a couple of Range Rovers for customers and they pick them up the same day they arrive I reckon that could be considered statistically "fast selling". However, if you have a dozen Rovers on the lot and down the street there are a dozen Cherokees on the Jeep lot, I'll wager the Jeeps will sell a lot faster than the Rovers.

Yes, I think it's obvious that you guys are correct. Fastest does not mean most sold. And no doubt the Cherokee scored so highly because at the beginning of the month the dealers had virtually none in stock.
I will bet that for the month of December the Cherokee does not make this list. While it is a good selling model, judging by the quantities you now see in dealer inventory, there is now ample availability.

Don't fall for the dealer nonsense. They love to claim that whatever model you are interested in is difficult to get. If there was any shortage on Cherokees whatsoever we would not see the dealers discounting them the way they are. As of this morning, the dealer down the street from my office has 37 Cherokees in stock. 14 of them are limiteds. Interestingly though, only two were trailhawks.

The other trick that I have seen is a dealer not disclosing how many of a certain model they actually have in stock. Many dealers have remote storage lots that are not immediately adjacent to the dealer. I recently helped my aunt buy a Honda accord. The salesman showed us that they had only eight of them on the lot, and told us they sell very fast and cannot keep them in stock. When we went back a second time and wanted to see one in a particular color, he forgot what he had told us the first time, and he drove us over to a storage lot where they had 40 to 50 more of them!

I don't know. Those Range Rovers are a pretty common sight around here, along with lots of other cars in that price range, which is probably a big part of the reason that my TH doesn't get much attention even though it's almost a one-of-kind as I haven't seen any others on the road yet.

I hate to say it, but I hope it's NOT too hot. I rather like being the only one in my neck of the woods with one :)

Me too, but if it's not hot, there won't be much long term support for us owners, so I hope it does well enough to keep the Cherokee going. This really is the nicest vehicle in its class, so it would be a shame for it to flop.
