These drive me nuts. They always show up usually after a rain. I don’t think the covers come off easily I’m thinking about spaying a bleach mixture ( knowing it will take the wax off… they also show up under the mirrors.

Would getting the paint clay barred and waxed really good help?
Probably a Detailer would know.
That's why I got anvil, mud is less obvious.
Oh, the dirt comes right off with soap. I was thinking about spraying the bleach solution directly into and around the door handle to prevent further dirt seeping out. ?

Bleach is corrosive to plastic. Are you sure you want to use that?

I'd go to a high-pressure DYI car wash and blast the gunk out. Be careful not to get too wild, though. Don't put the nozzle right up to the car.

I use a diluted mixture of Dawn dish soap and water. Spray it in, let is soak, and rinse it off. Don't scrub, though, as Dawn is considered a mild abrasive and may slightly dull the clear coat.

Best of luck!

Had same issue when I bought it used a year ago. Drove me nuts! Finally, before a good detail, I sprayed all "those parts", with Fantistik spray cleaner and used a brush, then hosed off. Then buffed, waxed, and trim, handles and roof rails had 303 applied. Streaks gone! Been about 7 months, 8k miles plus another 3500 miles towed by motorhome. Good luck with yours...

Ok, I hear ya! No Bleach. Guess I will get out the tooth brush and some dawn 😎
Ummm... you did note the part about Dawn being a mild abrasive, right? If you scrub your paint with a toothbrush you might dull the finish a bit. Best to just let it soak a bit and rinse it off. The goal is to get the gunk in the cracks out with Dawn. If any streaks on the paint are left, go to Plan B - car wash soap or baby shampoo + clean sponge and a bit of elbow grease. In any case, re-waxing when you are done is a good idea. I use a ceramic spray that is quick, easy, and seems to last a bit.

If you look on the interwebs you'll find about 50/50 that Dawn is OK/Not OK. I don't take the chance on paint. My RV manufacturer has a specific exclusion in their warranty in that they will not honor the warranty for any clear coat or paint damage due to using dishwashing soap like Dawn, so there must be something to it.

BTW - Dawn + brush on wheels works great!

It was always recommended to wash your car with Dawn prior to applying new wax, as the Dawn will strip off the old wax and who knows what else, lol.
Right, you just want to be careful about how much Dawn and using only clean, soft microfibers on the paint and glass. The same goes for wheels and tires, if you want a clean surface to apply new waxes or coatings and that also includes exterior trim. That's really the only time to use Dawn: to remove contamination where claying wouldn't be ideal and when removing previous waxes.
