For that 2016 Trail Hawk bought from a US seller that came from Canada.
Actually DRL are of no real consequence to the battery, mpg, ect on this Cherokee.
LEDs draw so little it is of no consequence to the system overall. The Cherokee Overall is drawing current continually using the onboard computers. They only go to sleep and not off. With the AGM battery, which is designed for this kind of draw down, the battery is fine. Its the lead acid batteries that will have their life shortened if they are allowed to run down. At any point the DRL are only on while the vehicle is running thus there will be no battery run down to begin with.

But the bigger problem with this purchase, that I hope the selling dealer mentioned, was the factory warranty. US dealers will not honor warranties on vehicles sold outside the US. Thus if you purchase a Jeep that was initially sold in Canada and then you bought it in the US from a seller you will have a problem warranty wise. That was the last I heard. My neighbor had that issue with a Jeep they purchased in the US that had come from Canada. A warranty issue came up with a big repair. Some how I think they got it covered in whole or part for that repair only, I believe. It was a mess for them. But they love the Jeep.

And yes DRL do make the vehicle more visible. That's why , at least in Illinois motorcycles must drive with lights on all the time. They are a lot more visible.
The problem the OP does not realize is that darker vehicles are not as visible on the road as brightly painted vehicles. Depending on conditions visibility can be an issue with all vehicles.

Just wanted to point out this thread is almost a year old and pretty much dead before it got resurrected. Also the OP hasn't posted since around then, so I think it's safe to say they've figured something out, learned to live with it, or traded in their car by now.

You may have noticed the member who resurrected it is new (post #1 ). This happens a lot, on all forums. Much worse on boards were folks can post as guests, they just hit and run in any thread they stumble onto.

And I agree : OP is all set, no doubt..

There seems to be an update for my AutoEnginuity available. Once I get it and test it out, I will report back.
Sorry for resurfacing this thread but my DRLs on my KL 2014 Longitude (Australia) never turn on during the day. Only at night with the headlights. I'm trying to look for a fix. There is no hard or soft key to enable/disable them either, sucks.

Were you able to test using OBD?

I know this is an old thread but it is NOT mandatory to have the DRL on in Ontario. Your vehicle must have them, yes, but you don't have to use them. Sort of like our PFD laws for boats, gotta have them in the boat but not law to wear them. Me, I run full lights all the time as per years old driver ed. class in high school, so my back lights will be on too. Last I checked only NS required the use of DRL.

sorry, I can't help, but I'm curious, do the DRLs turn off when your turn signal is on? with mine, that was a setting. I've set mine not to come on unless I manually turn them on. a bonus for this setting is that the turn signal doesn't turn off that side when blinking. do yours turn off when blinking? I don't care for that look
