Hi everybody. Just got a new Limited yesterday and love it but am looking for hints on how best to operate the climate controls on the 8.4 screen.
My tech savviness is about average, so I hope this isn't a dumb question.
When I try to adjust the temp, it either comes out completely cold on the LO setting, and when I move the temp up into the low-mid 60s, it comes out completely hot. How should I set the A/C, recirc, or AUTO Buttons on the top bar in order to be able to moderate the heat and cooling with the temp sliders and not feel "max cool" or "max heat"?

It's hard... how I do it... if I want it warm I put it on 74 or 75, with air coming right at me... if I'm getting to hot I turn it to air towards my and on the feet.... if I'm doing cool, same thing except I put it on 70-71.... it's hard to regulate temp in the Jeep. But it does get really cold when you want it and really hot when you want it... hot enough to melt plastic

It does take some getting used to...it never seems to simply blow warm air to keep a temp. As mentioned, it blows hot and then thinks it's too hot and blows cold. I just leave it on auto and when I'm too hot just turn it off. It tends to stay off most of the time until I remember why I'm cold....

Being a Limited, do you have the AUTO HVAC? If so, I just keep mine on A. Winter: Driver side set to 72, Passenger side set to 74. I occasionally turn the front DEF on to melt any accumulated snow. Then, set it and forget it! In the summer, I may drop them down to 68 and 70.

It's good to know yours works the way it should. It's reassuring and indicates the system can actually work the way we would expect. There have been many members complain about the Auto HVAC and just turn off the AUTO feature or make wide temp adjustments as needed to compensate.

Mine is on auto except when the wife is let me and then she turns auto off and sets it where she wants and I have learned to just live with that type of adjustment.:grin:

My 2014 Journey Crossroad also had the Auto HVAC. Being a 3-row, there was also separate controls for the rear. Behind the right rear panel, there is a second heater core. So, many more settings and vents to play with; front and back both controlled by the HU. And, I could lock the rear to my settings! >

One of my stipulations was that I had the Auto Climate control, and I am very glad I did. On those colder days especially during this winter, using the Auto feature was awesome, and had little to no issues with it. And on those days where my windows would fog up, I'd just put the defroster on (I'd switch between full-on defroster, and the defroster/lower air option). I normally had no issues with operating the Climate control. Needless to say, the climate control in the Cherokee is awesome I think, and the couple times I used the A/C just to try it out, it kept everything nice and comfy in there.

As far as the actual operation of the climate control itself, I have little issues with using the screen, or the physical controls below it

It's a software error. My 2016 Trailhawk worked fine for years. Then I installed software version 18.45.01 last year. Two automotive AC specialist companies and the dealer's service advisor agree it's software. The service advisor says we need to wait for a new software version. She's seen the problem before.
