I bought a 2014 Cherokee Sport on 10-6-14 and the dash cluster lights go on and off by themselves thus draining the battery overnight. Brought it back to the dealer several times and it does not do it there. The loaner was also a Cherokee Sport and did the same thing but not at the dealer. It seems its just around my neighborhood. Filed a complaint with Jeep but they cannot figure out the problem. The dealer service dept. came out with an RF monitor and found no interference. Then they brought out a 2014 Latitude and it had no issue. Then they brought out a 2015 Cherokee Sport and it too had the same issue. So it is something with the Sport package that is not right. Over 4 months with this problem. Hopefully Jeep will buy the car back. Connecticut Lemon Law is the next option if they don't respond soon. Oh by the way, my case worker(s) never answer the phone and hardly ever call back. Sometimes the voice mailbox is even full. Anyone ever hear of this issue with the dash cluster?

I read this earlier this morning but was waiting to see if someone else would comment.

I have a sport as well, but have never had this happen. Can't even think of a cause for this, it sound bananas! The only time my instrument cluster comes on is if I pull on a door handle or the hatch, which is normal. The Cherokee has battery run-down protection, it technically should have kicked in and cut off all power once it gets low enough so you'll still have enough power to turn over. Sounds like this has failed as well, unless the battery run-down protection only monitors accessories and not the internal components of the Cherokee.

Could it possibly be something with the key fob? A button being pressed by itself (stuck keypad)? Perhaps this is some kind of unexplained phenomenon! Seen any UFO's lately?

In all regards, I do hope they get this resolved for you. It definitely sounds like quite the pain!

Don't think I can handle the user name being exactly like another member.

I read this on my phone and was like "He doesn't have a sport, he has a TH."

Not a fob issue.I even took the batteries out of both of them overnight and the same thing happens. As for the username, I used a lower case "L" I believe. They musta used an upper case "i".

Did you try to push down all the fuses to make sure they are locked in place. Some people had issues with them not all the way in from the factory. Not sure that would cause your issues but it's worth a shot.

this is really interesting. two vehicles that both do the same thing. first question is how do you know the dash lights go on by themselves? are you walking by car with fob? something with door handle? seems if two cars do something its a normal condition.

I can see the lights go on from my living room window at night. No, I removed the batteries from the fob. Still has issues. Two 2014's and one 2015 Sport models did it. Dealer also brought by a 2014 Latitude and it did NOT do it. Must be something with the Sport models the tech said but they have not figured out what yet.

Can you please change your user name. It's nearly identical to mine and this my cause some confusion of identity.

Moderators what do you think.

Well, my original post was in February. May 11, Chrysler finally agreed to buy the vehicle back from me after 7 months. Engineers on my street the past two days with equipment monitors still can't figure it out. In fact, its even happening with an engineers Cherokee Latitude. They are dumbfounded. I have since moved on from Chrysler products after the rotten customer service fiasco.

I have had my lights go one when washing the exterior. They are likely on the right path by checking for RFI as seems like it is picking up a signal and preparing itself for entry.

Just now getting on these forms. I started having a problem tonight sitting out by my car without key fob and notice the dash panel with speedometer is coming on and off. Did you ever find out what your problem was?

The poster hasn’t been back to the forum in 11 months, they won’t see your question. Perhaps someone else will answer.
