No DVD/movie until lockpick

Search the site for "lockpick" - until we have a lockpick, you cannot.

Is it feasible that it COULD be done, if "lockpicked"?

Just wondering, but why would you want to watch a movie on the 8.4 inch dashboard screen with not much for sound, when you could watch it at home on a home theater system? And hopefully it could never be done while the vehicle is in motion. Just wondering.....

Had an '04 Cadillac SRX that had a code that someone figured out that allowed movie viewing & Nav address while in motion. Caddy patched that slip-up mid '05.

Legal or not, I watched movies all the way to FL & back; also to NJ & back. It was terrific!
AND...I'm still alive. :)

My Mustang will play DVD's on the nav screen. Sometimes i'll record a half hour TV show and watch it on my lunch break. If you start moving with a DVD playing, the video goes out but the audio still plays.

It would be nice to have this option on the Cherokee as well.

dont necessarily need a lockpick if someone hacks the firmware to read a usb input...the other option is tapping the backup camera input which is usually very complex due to audio (I did that on my accords nav but realized how pointless it was). phones work pretty good for video if you are just sitting in a parking lot killing time, or howsabout a book

anyone watching videos in the car while camping is doing it wrong
if its for the kids, you are better off having the video in the rear with them than up front

Yes I admit it! It's no different than glancing over to tune a radio or looking on the Nav map. No different than holding a conversation with your passenger(s) or on your cell phone! No different than lighting a cigarette or cigar. (Yes I do that too--it's MY life; not yours!)

Some people can multitask, some not. If you can't; don't!

Get off my lawn!

I'm sorry but I have to say this. I guess you just don't understand that you are driving on a public highway with other drivers. If you are only endangering you and your family that's one thing, but I guess you don't understand you are endangering other drivers and their families by watching movies while driving. How can you not understand this? Your statement "it's my life, not yours" is totally inconsiderate. You are endangering other peoples lives! I'm sorry, but I can't believe that there are people who actually believe it is ok to watch movies while driving! Oh and it is not the same as tuning a radio station which I do with the steering wheel controls, or having a conversation with a passenger whom I do not have to look at, and I don't smoke. If you are watching a movie while driving, you are not putting your full visual attention on the main task of driving! The key is the word watching. You are watching a video screen! I can't believe there are people on this forum that think it is ok to do that. I have to be frank, this is annoying! Are there other forum members that think as I do, that it is not safe to watch movies and drive?

Talk about annoying!

You are correct: "The key is the word watching." Obviously I WAS not watching. That would be impossible...Glancing is likely more appropriate. With that in mind, all the other analogies apply.

Can I do it these days, no. Would I do it these days, If it were possible, possibly. BUT.... would I pay for the equipment to make it possible, no way; it isn't even on my "bucket list".

Now, go back to looking for others to lecture on YOUR views & opinions.

Have to agree with the others.
All the other analogies do not make it ok, as they are no different though most are actually less distracting...glancing at a movie is distracted one way or the the other, you are still watching a movie and not the road: endangering others.
Kinda coming off as a bit of an arse here.

Jethro, (obviously a southern *******, ridge runner name)

I am not from Jersey, Florida either. A proud Hoosier!
I do have relatives in NJ & FL, however, and take your comment as a direct insult to my relatives! (who are neither pushy, self-centered, nor 'blue-haired')

Now that all of you are finished spewing your vitriol, why don't you go back to something constructive!
