#1. Check your auto parking brake settings. If your parking brake sets automatically and you attempt to drive you will get a jerk till it releases. We just purchased a Cherokee and are feeling these 2 brake concerns. When backing up the brake seems to not release and then it does release with a jerk and then the same as mentioned.
(approaching a stop light) the problem is when i'm starting to step on the brakes and slowly putting in pressure, the jeep slows down (obviously) then suddenly you'll feel like the break slips then again the brakes engage then you further slow down and stop.
the brake slip (as I call it) is about spit second long when your still stepping on the breaks.
happened to me 3x now since I got my limited on the Dec 20th
That is normal for the auto system.
I did not like that so I turned it off.
#2. Are you sure that is not the ABS at work. How were the roads? You had December for your limited. Any Ice, snow, or water on the road can activate the ABS under certain braking/speed conditions.
I would also recommend taking it in if you have any concerns about the braking abilities of the vehicle.
