im on my 350mile now. (approaching a stop light) the problem is when i'm starting to step on the brakes and slowly putting in pressure, the jeep slows down (obviously) then suddenly you'll feel like the break slips then again the brakes engage then you further slow down and stop.
the brake slip (as I call it) is about spit second long when your still stepping on the breaks.
happened to me 3x now since I got my limited on the Dec 20th

If you think you have a break problem, I'd get it in to the dealer. It's one thing if you can't start your car, but it's another if you can't stop it. Then they also can check for anything that may cause the jerking motion you mentioned in your other post.

We just purchased a Cherokee and are feeling these 2 brake concerns. When backing up the brake seems to not release and then it does release with a jerk and then the same as mentioned.

I have similar issues sometimes, when braking. I think in my case, its the adaptive learn botching the downshift. In my case, it feels like rather than downshifting from 3-2-1, it gets confused and and goes from 3-2-3-2-1 - or something like that. I'm certainly no expert. It feels like the transmission downshifting is assisting in the slowing of the car, then it stops briefly, and resumes again. I don't feel anything in the brake pedal.

Not sure if this is relevant to you or not, just thought I'd share. And of course I can't get it to do it when the dealer test drives it. They think I'm a lunatic.

#1. Check your auto parking brake settings. If your parking brake sets automatically and you attempt to drive you will get a jerk till it releases.
That is normal for the auto system.
I did not like that so I turned it off.

#2. Are you sure that is not the ABS at work. How were the roads? You had December for your limited. Any Ice, snow, or water on the road can activate the ABS under certain braking/speed conditions.

I would also recommend taking it in if you have any concerns about the braking abilities of the vehicle.

My husband now believes that it's something with the transmission not the brakes. The dealer says that it's normal. We are not happy with the normal.

It jerks sometimes when we are backing up and switching from reverse to drive. Thoughts? Did you experience this?

Jerk in Reverse

I have a new 2014 Cherokee. Always, after the jeep has been parked for awhile, when I begin to back up in reverse I get a jerk and a loud crunching type sound in the front of the car. The parking brake is not on. Anyone else have this issue or suggestions? The dealer had the jeep for 2 days and claims he could not repeat the problem. The first time I drove the jeep after getting home, I had the problem.

Probably should introduce yourself before complaining on post one or most will think you are trolling.....

I tend to agree that this is something to do with trasmission downshift as well, when you feel like slowing down and then a lurch forward before finally slowing down again, all in split seconds.
I am not sure if this will get better with transmission AL completion.
