Black OEM Rims on Trailhawk

I know there has been much discussion of the whether or not any Trailhawks have been shipping with the Black rims. I have not seen any at any of the dealers around here (Phoenix). Before purchasing I asked the parts guys for a price for the black wheels which are optional, the best he could do was about $360.00 each.

Anyhow, as soon as I got our new Trailhawk home, I took the rims off and sent them to be stripped and powder coated. It ended up costing $55 per rim for the strip and powder coat and about another $120 to dismount/mount and replace the TPMS Stems.

The end result was good and I was able to turn the tires around to the blackwall side too.

$360....each.... There's way nicer (no offense) wheels out there for WAY less. Good lord.

Sweet! Now if I can just convince my Wife to let me do that in the Spring when the Blizzaks come off.

No offense taken, that's why I powder coated these. I went to Discount Tire to see what they had for aftermarket wheels and there were none offered yet that were rated for off road. Apparently the bolt pattern has been used on smaller vehicles in the past, all of the wheels they had available (from Wheel World) looked like something for cars.

Yeah, pretty much all small vehicle wheels. I ordered some Konig Airstrikes for mine from DT. They will look good on it and off road capability isn't a concern as I didn't get a 4x4 model anyway.

Cool! Post a pic when you get them mounted up.
Sweet! We have the same color Trailhawk. Now I just have to convince my Wife to let me do that when the Blizzaks come off in the Spring.

They would look especially good on white!
So lots of people are mentioning Plasti Dip. I thought Plasti Dip was for dipping tool handles in. How would you apply it to something as big as a wheel?
Aftermarket wheels!

Maybe the first ones installed?

It's available in a regular spray paint can. From what I've seen, the stuff is super easy to use and extremely forgiving.
Make sure your wheel or whatever your painting is clean and dry and spray on 3-4 coats.
Best part is if you don't like it or you mess it up it peels off.
sweet! I have the same color TH and was thinking of doing the same. Also what type of racks do you have?? looks like the ones I was planning on getting from Thule aeroblade 7502?
