Meh. This has happened several times with my 2014. All you have to do is go to the back latch buttons and start pressing them randomly, close the latch, lock the car / unclock it, etc with key fob. It may take about 5 minutes, but it will eventually start working again. It gets into some weird logic state sometimes. You definitely don't need to spend $400 on a repair.
Did you try pushing the button to see if the latch is engaged? It may have closed the electronic latch before the door was closed, mine has done this before
