So far it is, but I have seen it in person, in testing, in the Wally World parking lot in Fenton, just down the road from Auburn Hills (Chrysler Headquarters). Right now Chrysler has its hands full with the 2014 Cherokee transmission software problem but i think as soon as that is taken care of you will see more attention given to a diesel option for the Cherokee in the US. The biggest problem in the US for the diesel is meeting EPA standards and it still being drivable. I can tell you I have never seen so many Manufacturer's license plates in MIchigan on Chrysler experimental products as as I have seen during the last few months. I think Chrysler has a lot of interesting things coming down the pike. Chrysler used to be known for its innovation and I think you will be seeing them reestablish their leadership in that niche. They are working on something for the Dart too as I have seen lots of them with Manufacture's license plates snaking through the back roads here in packs of 3 and 4 at night. My family has a long time Chrysler history as my mother was the executive secretary for the president of DeSoto around WWII time and my father worked at both the Trenton Chrysler Chemical plant (CycleWeld) and the Trenton Engine plant.

Yep we are getting it here.
It will only come in a manual version not auto.
The Sport/Latitude/Limited will be av in a CRD but not the TH....

Manual? I didn't think they were even producing a manual version.

The Mopar catalog was supposed to surprise us all 2 months after we had been driving our Cherokees.... Delay, delay again and delayed one more time leaves the catalog out before the vehicle

Anybody going to wait for a Diesel? or perhaps an MT? I have to imagine the MT will make its way into more than just the Diesel, likely a base model although would love to see it available on TH.

Yes mate, that's the word.
The MK platform Patriot and Compass that were av outside North America were av in a manual CRD 2.0 only also. No auto.
That one had the VW TDI engine.

Yeah but if you get the trailhawk and decide to rock climb wouldn't it be easier to have the automatic transmission to do the work for you when you are... well slightly vertical?

better question whats the manual going to do to Cherokees fuel econ? MT's are typically better but when you put an M6 against a slushbox 9 speed the 3 extra gears are going to win economy every time....

exactly. the only thing raising the bar is DCT, it gives better performance and fuel economy, which is what the industry needs at this time with all the downsizing going on.

yea no diff between M6 and a slush 6 but I'd think adding an extra 3 gears will give an edge to fuel sipping...

yeah thats true there might be a slight difference but so minimal it doesnt even matter.
