Maybe not a good idea. We already have a thread going about 3.2 vs 2.0T and... it's not pretty.
so based on that, guy told me two things
1. 2T oil change is more than v6.
2. 2T also need premium fuel than regular gas.
V6 he said been around for long . All the stalls that were happening happened on 2T , so he , as a salesman said to go with V6. Not a pushy guy..

Discussed ad nauseam on this forum, no need (I insist) to ignite this again here.

2.0T oil change doesn't cost more, it doesn't require premium, but it is recommended for certain conditions, and the stalling issues were due to crappy relays being installed at the factory on all engine option Cherokees, and probably still are...😎

If you want you can read the thread I've posted below. It is the 'ad nauseam' discussion Mark refers to in his post.

It does contains some useful info at first, but then it dissolves into a flustercluck as our resident troll jumps in and starts trolling our resident 2.0 fanboys. Then, much to his delight, they feed him the responses he wants and the thread becomes a pointless dead horse beating affair. Read at your own risk and please, I'm begging you here, don't add any further posts to it. ;)

You guys been all over the place.. You guys even take a break lol
Hey, we are just one big happy, somewhat dysfunctional family here. ;)

Seriously though, this is a great forum with lots of good info and people who can answer almost any Cherokee question. However, the question of which engine is best will always be elusive and debatable. haha

FYI I was skimming over the tundra and 4runner forums and new tundra and 4 runners seems to have some issues. Seems buying a car is more of luck than anything nowdays
Well, one thing I think most people here would agree on, is that cars nowadays are far more complicated with all their computer chips, (up to a thousand of them per an article that I just read in Time magazine) sensors/relays, software code with the ever present bugs, etc. Just more things...expensive things...to go wrong. So yeah, it is a bit of a crap-shoot. :)

So should I get a 3.2 or 2t?I want longevity and fun drive..or 3.6 for a GC..

I'd say test drive each one and see which one you like best. I have a 3.2 and a 3.6, the Cherokee is nice but I like the Grand Cherokee a bit more. It's hard to beat the 8 speed transmission!

Yep, our 3.2 had the bad relays and stalling issues last winter. Very easy warranty fix and all good now. There is nothing like these vehicles that money can buy which will also give you perfect reliability guaranteed. It's just not there anymore, due to the fierce competition between manufacturers they are all more or less riding the knifes edge to remain price competitive.

I know this thread is from last year. But because it was about opinions of the Pentastar engine, I figured it should have this included info. A class action lawsuit has been filed against FCA (now Stellantis) because of the (2014-2020) Pentastar V6 rocker arms, lifters, and the ECU.
