I haven't been able to find much on installing a hitch on our 2020 TH Elite. I've seen the one on Etailer that installs under the rear bumper. But is there one that installs behind the rear bumper too?

I really don't like the looks of the curt hitch sticking out the bottom. Any help appreciated.

You need to look at the mopar sites, or go to a jeep dealership. Only the mopar hitch will go behind the rear bumper.

You will also need the wiring harness as well, and may need to get the BCM updated for it. Not positive on the BCM part.

That's what I've been looking for. Guess I'll just have the dealer install it if the BCM has to be flashed.

I don't know what I was thinking when we bought it. I just assumed it had one. Then I went to use it and no hitch. What the hell was Jeep thinking? The elite has all the bells and whistles, except for the hitch.

They did when I bought my 2019, but that isn't the case anymore...Honestly, I don't think you can even get any Cherokee "fully loaded", and I mean with literally every option available, like mine, without a custom order, if you can even do that anymore...😎

expect 1k bill.
anything under 800$ dont even blink.
hitch+harness+ labor
you have to run the wiring full length of car which is a P I T A.
also computer needs flashed to activate it.

Hitch itself isnt that bad I ordered one from rockauto and it arrived looking like it lost a battle with ninjas armed with swords.

Gave up on that and paid dealer.

IMO they should just put the 20$ harness in at the factory.
If the harness was there it would be much more diy-able.

Also cherokees are super sensitive to electronic(issues) not sure I would use aftermarket light harness.

Other info.
mopar hitch replaces the bumper bar under the bumper cover. Trailhawks dont need the additional trim piece.

it's not standard. It is an option. and after market hitch below is not a good choice, your departure angle will suffer.

and I'm pretty sure even if you get an OEM hitch installed, your capacity will be reduced over a factory / came with the vehicle install. I feel like I read that on here.

Unfortunately you kinda got the bad end of the deal here, too late now.

Here is a thread on a 2018 Latitude Plus that put on the factory hitch and had the dealer update the BCM. Their official Jeep Vehicle Dashboard was updated to show the full towing capacity of 4,500 lbs.

Actually, it's installed, but I'm waiting on the OEM wire harness. Will I have to remove the bumper cover again to install it? I heard it's a nightmare to install the OEM harness.

There are a few more like that floating around here. The point is there is a path for your vehicle to be officially rated at maximum towing capacity since you have the Trailhawk Elite. To confirm, your build sheet should have:

1- Auxiliary Transmission Oil Cooler
2- Heavy Duty Engine Cooling.
3- 3.517 Final Drive Ratio (assuming the 3.2L)
4- Trailer Sway Damping
5- Engine Oil Cooler

I got most of the list just not heavy duty engine cooling. I am still going to install the mopar hitch 82213349AD I will be using it for a bike rack and maybe taking leaves to the dump via carrier
