Good news I got a brand new battery installed by the dealership the correct battery I also got the refund and he told me if I have any issues to go right back and I didn’t even have to threaten to suspend his passport. LOL

Thank you to everyone who has helped me through this ordeal I truly appreciate it
Go Lady, look at you!!! Excellent!!! Glad you got them straightend out. Please don't be a stranger around here, and at least pop in now and again and say hi...😉😎

Did you return your other, incorrect battery to CT?

I didn’t have to return it because my father drives a truck that uses the same battery so he just purchased it off me. He was gonna wait one more year but he said that he might as well just change it now so I don’t have to return it

I purchased my Jeep brand new and had no issues until this week. My battery drained and unable to start. I had towed to dealership and they said the battery just needed a full charge. Granted it has been a very cold start to winter here in Ottawa ON but still I never expected my Jeep with less than 18000 km not to start. I was charged 98 dollars to charge the battery. This morning I went to start my jeep and again it won’t start. I am so frustrated I don’t know if I should just go and buy a brand new battery somewhere else or have it towed again to the dealership and ask them to find out what is going on with my jeep. I purchased extended warranty for seven years on this vehicle. Should this be happening to a less then two year old brand new jeep? Any advice would be appreciated. I’m feeling so frustrated and have lost all trust with the dealership 😱
My 2019 Jeep was 3 years old and the battery drained and wouldn't start all because of a bad battery cell, for me the battery was under warranty for that case and I also went to a certified Chrysler Dodge Jeep and Ram dealer. It can't be said as an old battery to be denied warranty, however, it all comes down to what is in-between the lines. If it cranks and repeatedly clicks trying to start and every light inside the car flicks on and off along with it I would say its the bad cell or at least something draining the battery of its starter power and with a new battery your issue will be resolved given its a bad cell. typically dealers can battery test it and tell right away. Took them under an hour for me for everything, I hope you get your money back and everything fixed.

I just skimmed what you wrote and did not really read the replies, but here is my view. Frist Batteries can die early, and after a few years, it is only a matter of time. Some last 4 or 5 years, some don't. I have done what your dealer did more than once trying to save an out-of-warranty battery, and I think I lost every time. A fairly new battery can go bad, and sometimes they still check out ok, but they are not. As for dealers they usually do the best they can, and in the end here you won.

The main point I want to make is to please read your extended warranty. I am guessing it does not cover what is considered disposables like brake pads, and a Battery. The dealer should have know that the OEM battery was still under warranty, but if it checks ok, they cannot just replace it. The best thing is talk with your dealer if you have any kind of problem, and most dealer will try and help you. But, dealers are also in the repair business so think about any repairs they say are needed. I have a friend that owns a Subi and a good dealer, but they do recommend a whole lot of needed repairs as the auto gets old, and many just are not worth the expense. Your extended warranty would kick in should those types of repairs be suggested by your dealer. Good Luck.

Hi there, welcome to the forum !

Subis... I don't know if the business model is the same in the US, but here in Canada you take one look at the mandatory maintenance schedule (mandatory as in you have to get it done at the dealership), and you kinda choke at the total cost of it all. I walked in there one day all motivated, looked at their required maintenance and walked out disappointed...

Just replaced mine that was only two years old, noticed it was not holding charge. Have a CTek trickle charger connected overnight but after a day of driving around it would struggle to start when turned off. Went to a battery shop and the tech said due to the way the battery is crammed in the engine bay with not much ventilation to take away the heat, two years was an acceptable timeframe. So $450 later have a new start/stop battery which is on my trickle charger if it sits for more than a day. PS our day time temperatures average 32 degrees which adds to the poor ventilated battery.

It's always the battery, like 98.7% of the time...😎

I think you had an old battery fixed in place, I had the same problem with my 2015 Cherokee, I have 15000 km on it, I had to buy a different brand battery as mopar was almost 215 $ 😱

Only 215? My new battery is 375 after tax 😱
He's sporting a Saudi flag. Don't know where he got the battery... ;)

Everything is more expensive in Canada (in relative dollars). On average, your correct CT battery, which would've cost you $279 (canadian) + tax, is below $200 in the US (not all labels, but some). If you buy Mopar at a dealership, it's always more, and for the exact same battery.

You’re right I am just going by what the dealership told me the new battery would cost. He could be lying lol

Relative costs in different countries doesn't always come down to direct currency conversion - ie. AUD$45 - yes that's FORTY-FIVE dollars (about US $31) - for each of the plastic clips on top of the front struts - which are US $3.60 or maybe just over $4 in the USA does NOT correlate to the AUD/USD conversion rate...

Also, testing lead acid batteries is an utter and complete waste of time. In aircraft there are NiCad batteries (usually used in larger aircraft) and Lead Acid batteries - usually used in smaller planes - but they are also sometimes used in larger aircraft as well - and there's a mandatory capacity / performance check schedule called up for batteries used in passenger transport category aircraft. The testing makes sense and yields useful results for NiCad batteries but for lead acid ones we just do it to satisfy the (useless) regulatory requirement. Sensible aircraft owners / operators simply replace Lead Acid batteries on a fixed interval - ie. 12 or 18 months - totally regardless of their test history or even their actual performance at the time that replacement interval comes up. Time and time again Lead Acid batteries that "pass" the very rigorous capacity check process - using very complex and expensive testing gear - po op out within days of being tested and certified - and time and time again we ramp mechs face hassles caused by us calling batteries as unserviceable only to have them returned to service because they went away only to be shop tested as serviceable and returned. A plane load of passengers stranded because a battery we US'd based on it's BEHAVIOUR in the plane has ended up reinstalled - with predictable results - is no fun.

My 2020 Cherokee trailhawk just started doing the same thing, dead battery in the morning. I noticed the dash screen comes on and off every 15 sec with no key fob near the vehicle, so that's what is killing my battery over night. Told the service dept of the issue and they look at it Monday morning. I will keep you updated.

Guess who’s back 🫣

About a year ago I posted about my dead battery in my 2020 Jeep Cherokee. Well guess what? That new battery they replaced a year ago just died this weekend. So that is 2 batteries in my jeep not quite 3 yeas old. I have been waiting for a boost for 5 hours now 🥺

i did purchase a new CTbattery and waiting to go to the dealership tomorrow. I just feel so defeated and being taken advantage of. The new battery is the AGM battery and cost me 330.00.

is this normal ? Is this normal I would go through 2 batteries in 3 years?

😢😢😢😢😢

Yep - that was our experience with our 2015 KL TH - the second battery we fitted (fourth in the vehicle counting the original factory one over the space of 7 years) was a Northstar and even that only lasted 2 1/2 years!!!
